Yet another mech game

I am developing a 3D mech game for java* and I am going through some of my mech variations and have choosen several ways of ground movement:
Tracked("tank treads" - even quad tread setups)
Wheels (3, 4, 6, 8...etc)
Biped (small, or massive)
spider
and hover.

I was really wanting some input on some of the pros and cons of each movement type in game terms, such as durability, speed, traction, max-carrying tonnage, costs or any other relavant attributes you can think of.

My current thoughts are as follows:
Tracked: very slow, can carry most weight, very durable, best traction
Wheels: quick, fast acceleration, quick u-turns
Hover: very fast, slow acceleration (jet vs rubber-on-ground), slow stops(compared to wheels), float on water, zero traction
Walker: expensive, can clear ground obstacles (trees)

Any idea is better than no idea (which is what I have right now)

*Please flame for using Jave..P.S. I am kidding, I am using because it is convenient.

Why dont you look up the stats on the Armored Core series since you can select all those things for your mech

Hover doesn't hae any real cons, unless there are surprise things you can run into that cause damage.

Hover should consume the highest amount of energy, limiting weapon payload.

Was just thinking the same thing. Love that game and I'm pretty sure it has all these variants. Though not really "spider"... there's a four-"legged" thing if I remember right. And reverse joint walkers were more stable than normal but had some kind of downside... I forget exactly.

It was kinda funny, I had all these great ideas, and then, someone told me to look at the new Chrome Hounds game...and there were all my ideas...in production...in a quality I could never hope to achieve... but hey, good for ideas I guess. Here are a bunch of pictures of Chrome hound mechs: My Mech Page *caution* 56k = death, very large page, over 10mB of images
