yet another iphone experience

I know I won't shut up about my trip but give me a little slack😛 I was just amazed at how much this little thing allows you to do wherever you are and wanted to share.

it's not the end-all-be-all of devices, but it's very fulfilling to know that data is now being treated as information in mainstream products and that we are able to benefit from it so easily. Having a device that allows so many data inputs and outputs to work [almost] seamlessly is very smile-inducing. Needless to say, my motoq, which is arguably quite old now, didn't do this.

Being able to use services like yelp EVERYWHERE in multiple states, and even foreign areas was awesome. For example, I had forgotten about Gray's Papaya and would have left NYC without going again. If this little thing hadn't reminded me when I was waiting for my bus home that the bus stop that I was at was two blocks away I would've regretted missing the opportunity.

Being able to take pics ANYWHERE and post them on facebook, mobileme, and wordpress from ANYWHERE seconds after I took them was also great. Just being able to share my trip as it happened with friends and family was great🙂 The pictures it took were absolutely fantastic compared to the crap my old motoq used to take. It's not a digicam by any means but c'mon...pics
That is pretty damn good.

I also had various problems as well:

1- the wordpress app totally died and required a reinstall
2-battery life sucked and I got at most 4 hours, and much less with heavy usage (camera, 3g, wifi, wordpress app, facebook app, nyc metro app, sms, calling) and in the end it completely. if I hand't written my bus ticket number before it died I would've been in a lot of trouble.
3-many dropped incoming calls - this happened in Washington d.c., NYC, and Jersey. annoying yes, but I'm used to this [unfortunately].

The biggest detractions are app instability, and far worse, the lack of battery life. It takes an absolutely fantastic piece of technology and neuters it completely. You find yourself watching the battery gauge when it hits 50% and holding back on it's use.

Despite these drawbacks, I've never had a trip where I was I was so easily able to share my great experiences. Being able to post the details of a chain fight (two dues + testosterone + bicycle chain  ) 10 seconds after it happened was just hilarious. Being able to post pics of the starting line at the race that I was 5min way from running? That right there was just....😀

Sure you can do this and more with a modern winmo/symbian phone...just wanted to share how much I liked to do it on this one.

Definitely buying a battery pack for it in the future though😛

I couldn't help but 😀 at the EZ pass pics. You must be from the back woods of Va. 😛
And where are the fight & race pics? Did I miss them?
Glad you had a good time. That's what counts!!!

As for your phone, turn off 3G, and your call drop rate will pretty much be a thing of the past. I've had no dropped calls since doing this. It sucks, but until Apple fixes the issue, it's gotta be done. Try it, and report back.

I've improved my battery life by turning off push, the gps, and wifi. I only turn the gps on when I want to use Yelp or google maps.

Yea my battery life is pretty much double with 3G off, so I leave it off unless I need to use it.

I would love Apple or someone to release a quick switch which will shut off wifi, 3g, gps, and push, and then with one quick click, turn them all back on. That would be a huge time saver.

Glad that your trip went well, and I have to agree, that while I love my iPhone, the battery drops off VERY quickly when you actually start using it. 🙁

The Lincoln Tunnel is definitely not in Virginia. 😛

Race Pics / General NYC pics

Hey now, we have EZ Pass too😛 It was neat looking so I snapped it.

As for keeping 3G and GPS off, I was uploading pics and hitting locatio nservices up contsnatly so I needed them on. Wifi was off, but other than that i needed the rest.

You got some balls driving in NYC 😛

Anyways, didn't know that there's a metro app - that'd be awesome to have whenever the next time I get this goddamn place and go down to the city.

This ain't no tunnel....

No, but this is.

Actually, I believe that's the exit on the NJ Turnpike for the tunnel. You can't go to Secaucus through the tunnel.😉
