Yet another "I Love Amazon Prime" thread....

Meghan54

Lifer
Bought a new case from Amazon.

Not only was Amazon the cheapest place for the case, a Silverstone TJ07, overnight shipping was $3.99. I could have just accepted the 2 day free shipping, but I just couldn't wait two days for it to get here, and overnight for $3.99 was just too tempting....

Damn, I love Prime!

I haven't exploited it in the sense of having something several hundred lbs shipped for free, but I do use the free 2day very very often.

How much does it cost or what do you have to do to get Prime?

Prime is free 2 day shipping or 3.99 overnight for each item sold by amazon.

I think it costs like 80/90 a year, but you can have like 4-5 pple sign up under an account. I know I just paypal'd my friend 15.80 to keep it going for another year.

oh..didnt know that.

i was like who the hell is willing to pay that much $ to ship stuff under $25 when u can just add filler to get free ship

its the damn devil. my co-worker just enrolled me under her account and i figured while im on amazon lets see what's on my wish list that i could have overnighted to put it to the test. long story short, my wishlist is now empty and i should be expecting an amazon package tomorrow.

I love it as well. Hardly ever go to the store for specialty items. And many times my two day stuff arrives next day because there's a distribution hub nearby.

Prime isn't the devil. One click ordering is however. Ohh, shiny! *CLICK*

Yes, be forewarned it is a curse and a blessing.

You can have 5 members of the same household on one account, but scammers ignore than requirement.

The $80 price is more than worth it. It saves me a lot of trips to the store. Also the Amazon Visa is essentially 3% cash back on Amazon.com purchases. You could get that at Target... if you need to spend $300 in one day within a certain period of time after you get your reward coupon. Not sure how much cash back you can get at Walmart.

Love me some Prime. I definitely order enough stuff in the average month or two that it really pays for itself.

I took advantage of the "family" thing before with some AT members, but I felt bad and (after another 1 month free trial) I'm paying for the yearly membership now.

Worth it.

Same... if it's shipped from Tennessee or Kentucky, I'll get it the next day. The only negative aspect is that Amazon won't estimate if the shipping will only take 1 day anyway (like Newegg does). The aspect that makes Amazon better than Newegg is that they tell you up to what point during a day you can order an item (from them, not other vendors) and have it shipped that day.

EDIT:

I've been a Prime member for awhile now though. It was nice getting a 90lb TV stand shipped to me overnight for 3.99 😀.

I wish Newegg would indicate which warehouse they are shipping from before placing an order. The NJ one is not too far from me, and I usually get stuff the next day whenver they ship from there.

I hate waiting for TN or CA shipments.

I do... I'm in my third year of prime. I used to think the same thing, but the truth of the matter is, when shipping is "free" you start to buy more stuff from there. In the end, it's not much more expensive than my sams club membership anyway.

it's pretty cool... it's great for small purchases like a book or a cd when you can get it for half the cost of retail and only have to wait a day or two to get it.

I bought $300 in sheets and pillows yesterday and had them shipped with free 2 day prime shipping. they all arrived this morning 😀

They do.

If you go all the way to the last page before you place your order, it will state "(Estimated 1 day shipping)" if an item is going to get to you quickly. It isn't as quick if they said it on the homepage or whatever (a really dynamic inventory), but it does work. It can also save you a few bucks by splitting apart items from far away warehouses and giving those faster priority shipping ( if you need the stuff ASAP ).

EDIT:

See, even took a picture 😛

wouldn't of the same household mean same address? is this not a requirement?

Prime is awesome. I don't know that I pay less than I would at Costco or anything, but being able to have cases of toilet paper and paper towels delivered 2nd day/next day is ridiculously great. Subscribe and Save + Prime = I'm never out of anything.

A college student would generally be considered to be a member of their parents' household, though they would have a different address for most of the year. Also, people often want to order stuff and have it delivered to a different address. Instead of restricting their customers, Amazon made the Prime policies customer-friendly. Like any customer-friendly policy, people abuse it. Because it's possible to abuse the policy, people assume it's permissible and ethical. The result is usually that companies change their policies to be more restrictive and less customer-friendly.
