Yet another GT3 thread...this time about License 1-8...seems almost impossible

I'm sure some of you GT3 addicts out there have completed some of the License races, but I was wondering if any has gotten a Gold cup on License 1-8. In order to get a Gold, you have to beat it within 43".

The closest I've gotten it to was 43.043"...was so freakin pissed I didn't get it...

Also, which free car do you get after you complete the first license test?

GT3 isn't a PC game, so it's technically not for that group.. 😉

All Golds on B license gets you a Miata. Good thing is you don't need to spend any money for a car allowing out you more for upgrades.

Miata eh? pretty cool i guess for a starting car...

but it's damn near impossible to get 43" on that last run...I'm 43 milliseconds too slow...geez...so hard, i hate it so much for being hard yet I keep on playing...lol

<< What's wrong w/ Off Topic? >>

One pops up about every 5 minutes...

Yeah, and these are "computer hardware discussion forums" too, so I guess we're all f&(#$() 🙂

edit: added smiley so I don't sound like a completely anal person...

Me too. I have the same problem getting the gold for the B-8 license. The key is, after watching the demo, to the hit the 2nd turn correctly which would shave of some time there.

Actually, I think its the very last turn that's the killer...that's where you can shave just enough to get the gold...I have the 1st and 2nd turn down perfect...the 3rd turn is 50/50 (sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't) and the 4th one I'm starting to get better, but it's still damn hard.

Wow, this game absolutely owns me. I am its b1tch.

4th turn? If I drove as badly in real life as I do in this game, they'd lock me up!

Those license tests in Gold are _really_ tough! I didn't get Gold in anything, but I made all the license tests with A, B, IA, and R. I'll be working on IB and S soon enough though.

So far, I've started simulation mode and played most of the weekend through it. I started with the Miata with the 18k (since I didn't get a free car from not getting Gold in the license tests). Modded that to heck, sold it and now I have the Camaro SS, Cobra R a newer Miata and a few other cars. One thing in this game you have to do is have many different cars. FF, FR, MR, AWD, mini's, Mercedes, roadsters, American, Imports, Beetles, Audi TT's, etc -- you need to have a variety of cars. I've learned this the hard way, but I'm on the right path now. I need to buy an AWD and a FF car now (for some more races), then I'll be pretty set.

Here's a tip: mod out a car for Turbo to stage2 with the intercooler. Go to the Turbo league for beginners and run the second race. If your car is fast enough, its an easy race and it will net you 5k in cash! I used this one up to the max to be able to buy my Cobra R and a few other cars, but it does take time (nearly 5 mins for the entire race).

Good game, I'm having a blast.

After a couple hours, I did get a 42.929 on 1-8. You pretty much have to nail everything- from the start to especially the last turn- make sure you lift enough, but not too much that you're following the line perfectly- maybe even slightly left of it when fully steering to the left. Then without scrubbing the tires, let it drift to the very edge of the wall.

Its a pain in the ass as a slight mistake anywhere will blow the run, and you have to use every single edge of the track. Watch out for the scrubbing tires noise- too much and you're going slow.
