Yet another FICO thread.

Here's mine. (767)

Do I get a prize or something? If I am going to buy a house, will it get me lower rates, or is that just a myth?

Providian (credit card) gives me monthly updates to my score. It's a pretty convenient service, although the APR is 25%, variable, on the card. 🙂 Hell, looking at my statement, it is actually 26.17% this billing cycle!

We got the best rate for a mortage that we could and the highest score between the two of us was 670. We paid no points, either. I haven't checked our credit since, but I was just approved for a Home Depot CC without a hitch 🙂().

The golden level for automatically getting the best interest rates used to be 720. With lenders being so aggressive these days, it's not uncommon to see lower scores getting good rates, too.

There may be hope for me yet! My score is around 700....after thoroughly abusing my credit for 7 years...

mierda, i applied for a providian CC and was denied. guess that's what you get for being an 18yr old student 🙂

Yep. College students usually have what they call "false high' scores after they get their first CC.
Means that their credit if perfect, but they really haven't borrowed any big $$$ yet, so the jury is still out on how credit-worthy they are at that point.

I've seen a girl with a 770+ score not get the best rate on a car loan because she was a first-time buyer.

My score was 798 the last time I checked, and I've since borrowed and paid back a few thousand dollars. I need to check it soon.

well i got a CC on my 18th b-day then cancelled it like 2 months later becase i was spending too much now I can't get a CC even with the old company. wtf. help anyone...i want a CC to build up my FICO and history.

Mistake #1, you should never cancel a card that fast, especially your first one. Just let it sit, but don't cancel it for crying out loud.
