they all promise to revolutionize urban commute but the price is around 1k! i cant see any revolution coming until they're $200 and available at walmart.

who has 1 of these boards and are they worth the asking price? components wise, i bet they cost about $300.

Revolutionize urban commute? LOL.

Let's take a look at something people can't do well: Drive cars.

A modern car, to most people in the US, is a mobile recliner with two pedals (which they often like to rest both feet on, so as to ease the burden of having to pick one fatass foot up and move it between them) and a a very low effort steering wheel. They drive on streets that give them very explicit, specific instructions and guidance.

They still fucking suck at moving around in an efficient manner and not killing each other.

Now, turn this into a clusterfuck of what is essentially a bunch of tiny motorcycles that people stand on.

Yeah. That'll work.

I've been commuting with an electric bicycle regularly for seven years without a single incident. It's fairly safe as long as one follows traffic safety rules-regulations. I easily travel at top speeds of 30mph, more than enough to keep up with regular boulevard traffic; however I stay far away from all roads beyond 35-40mph. The only real obstacles to biking are the elements.

However I personally wouldn't use an electric skateboard beyond recreational use. It certainly isn't safe enough to commute with on city streets.

I saw something similar when I was down south but it had bigger tires. I'm pretty sure it was custom made by the guy riding it though, I only saw the one and it looked quite custom.

originally i wanted to get an electric bicycle too. but it would be too heavy to drag around when not in use. there is no way i would park a bike unattended (even though it is locked). so an electric board is the next best thing since i can always tuck it under my desk at work.
