just like i dont want to pay a fee for using my CC at walgreens (and just like they cannot charge a fee), i don't want to pay one for using paypal on ebay. simple as that.

Whats the difference in gas stations charging more for gas if you use credit card than if you used cash?

If memory serves, they give you a cash discount. Yeah, it all comes down to semantics sometime and seems odd. Nevertheless, it's acceptable. You just can't -add- charges for accepting payment.

first of all you should'nt be paying that much money for a sd400.

secondly , talk to ebay customer service and see what you can do.

just tell him to temporarily downgrade his paypal account to a personal account so then he won't have to pay the fee.

go over to gunbroker.com

just about every auction has it where the price you bid is what the cash price is, if you use credit card, then there's a 3% charge. Is that right?

Don't know, but the fact is that according to Paypal, seller cannot charge the extra % to cover paypal fees. That is the whole point of this thread, it is simply and clearly against Paypal's TOS.

So why would the dumbsh1t bid on this item, instead of reporting it to Ebay. I see where he said he didn't read the auction, what kind of dipsh1t doesn't read an auction he's bidding on.

It's true that he could have avoided some hassle, but the fact still remains that he does not need to pay those fees.

Then it is the sellers fault for claiming the fees as "paypal" fees rather than, handling fees.

Well, the price isn't horrible. It's decent as long as shipping isn't killer.

I will remember this when I sell things on ebay... Being politically correct and all.

As Hossenfeffer says, just because he has a disclaimer there, since it's against their TOS, it's worthless. Though I would have asked him about it before bidding.
I've had several ebay sellers from the UK advertise a paypal fee, since it is or used to be allowed on ebay.co.uk, but when I mention that it's not allowed on ebay.com, they usually have no problem not charging me the fee.
