Yet another critique this build thread

Hi guys, i have been looking around alot on this website, this is my freinds accunt, i dont have one of my own. So, here is what i've come up with. i dont game too much and i dont need Increadibale graphics. it play cs and thats about it. there will no no OCing at the begining. this computer will also be used for video editing. thanks for looking

I have a case(TT Tsunami), 520W OCZ(little overkill but i got it cheap), and a 1GB of partiot RAM.

What i need/am looking at:

Mobo: DfFI Ultra-D
CPU: 3200 Venice
GPU: i was thinking 6600gt not sure on that though. sugestion?Brands?
HDD:80GB seagate

There are the parts i need im using everything else from current computer.

Ant thoughts and sugestions are very helpfull

Thanks for your time

you said no over clocking at the begining? ok what cooler are you going to use the one the comes with processor or an aftermarket cooler. i would suggest thermalright xp90 or xp120. nice choice on psu. 6600gt's are nice go with what ever fits your budget ati makes great cards as well. its always good to get a little bigger psu then you need so when new stuff comes down the road you will be ready that is if you want to try the new stuff. if you have any problems with setup try dfi-street.com they can help you if you have any other questions or if you have problems with setup. good luck.

i will be using the stock cooler for while if i need somehting else i was looking at the xp-90 and the 7000 alcu from zalman. i really liked the layout and all hte freatures from that board and seems to be sugested. thanks for the reposes so far

no.. stick with DFI.. u just don't get it for OC capabilities..
it's a great board... scored higher in almost every benchmarks than other boards..

Edit: $700 budget?

Mobo: DfFI Ultra-D $139
CPU: 3200 Venice $209 (retail box)
GPU:X800 XL $273
HDD:80GB seagate $69

Total: $690 + shipping / tax (if you're in GA)

Prices are from Monarchcomputer.com.

The X800 XL will give you more power for future games. If you want to save some money, go with a evga 6600GT.

Drop the X800 XL, pick up the evga 6600GT PCIe ($175) and Windows XP Home OEM ($89).

New Total: $681

You're good to go!

Have fun with the new build.

I think that system still deserves a 6800gt or equivelant. 6600's are good - but at the price of 6800gt's and x800xl and x800 xt's...you should be able to find 100- 150 somwhere in your house 🙂

look for change.. Or you could drop the venice and get a winchester 3000 or 3200 at about 140's...this would save $50 for the video card.

Pixle.

i thought about that but i wanted a 3500 but couldnt fit that in the buget an i dont need the best graphics ever. remeber im coming from intigrated so anything is a gonna be a huge jump
