I know you guys either love or hate these, but I need some opinions. I am redesigning and restarting my website. The old website is at http://www.heatsink.net. I did not orginally design the old site, however, I designed the new site myself using Dreamweaver 3. I am using the old graphics. Right now, I am just concerned with the look and colors of the site. The new one is temporarily at a small development server (freesco box :D) located at new heatsink.net I wanted to make it less cluttered and load faster. Although, the new one might be slow now cause its going through my cable modem rather then a webhost, but I hope it's not to bad for you. I removed the ad banner and the counter at the bottom. The counter at the old site is broken and I could never figure it out how to fix it. I don't really need a counter though. Please suggest anything I can do to make it look better. Be easy on me cause I know very little HTML. ;) Yes, I know the buttons on the left do not work, I am not finished yet on the functionality part. I am going to also add text links across the bottom. Information on how it looks through other browsers and 15" monitors would be very helpful. I was trying to make it look good at 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768, but don't know if I was successful.

Well, I'll be honest. I would like to see the finished product. I personally don't like the color scheme, I hate it when sites try to get me to read off of a blue background. Also, the layout is kinda weak, you should have the banner above the "Dedicated to Cooling, Computers, and Electronics information" Your banner looks more like an advertisment than a banner, at least with the rest of the sites design.

Like I said though, i would like to see the finished product!

Good luck

I was originally thinking about using a white background for the body. Blue was my second choice. Another thing, I was thinking of was moving the banner and body more up so there's not as much space in between. I was also thinking about making the big orange bar have rounded sides to match the navigational bar on the left.

well, those do sound like things that would be a good thing to do. But, if you go with a white BG, it will throw off you entire color scheme. Try a shade of gray.

Why don't you keep your entire background black? Much easier on the eyes... if you have to make the text area distinct, I agree with sparkle... go for gray.

I made a few minor changes to the site. Hopefully, it looks much better now. This is how the site is going to look no matter what page your on, except for the what's new message and the body.
