Yet another clutch thread: fan clutch. fixable?

I shouldre speaken more cleanly. I meant is it possible to clean it or rebuild it with new o-rings or whatever and make it as if I had gone to the dealer and given him $100 for a new one.

on a cluth note .. my friend has a 92 acura integra and the clutch is failing. He went out and bought a brand new car. I suggested he sell it and check out how much it cost to get teh clutch fixed, parts and labour... any one know the cost?

No. 'Not user serviceable'.

~$400 + labor?

Where do people come up with estimates like that? $400 is a FORTUNE for a clutch. $400 including labor is more accurate.

my original estimate, when my friend, gf, and i were heading to X-Men, was about 400 with labor. My GF guessed around 500. My friend estimated 1000-1500 to sell to my friend. He was gonna donate the car. Hope my friend talks him down a bit.

I agree, 400 including labor is more accurate.. AFAIK, it's a pain to change clutches in those Acura's tho.

My mom gave my uncle her Acura when the clutch went out, he's replacing it himself.

He had to use an oxy-acetylene torch and a 4' long bar to get this one rather large bolt off. Forget which, but it was a real bitch. The one on the other side came off with no trouble at all. 😛 Gotta love cars.
