I was thinking about the Honda Accord V6 EX (My dad says no Bimmer until later), which would be around 26K, but recently I look at the Acura and found some nice ones.

The CL Type S is a nice car, and I think I can get it for around 31K. On the other hand, the TL (non Type S) I should be able to get it for around 30K as well. I like the Acura coz' it has a lot of nice features and it has better horse power.

The question comes down to: Accord V6 EX Coupe, Accord V6 EX Sedan, Acura CL Type S, Acura TL.

Which one would you pick and why? Definitely you can take the prices into consideration as well.

If you can afford it, Acura TL is the way to go :). I have one and it's a breeze to drive. The only problem I have with the Acura TL is those crappy tires (Michelln MXV4 ALL SEASON TIRES) they give you. That are expensive to replace (Around $130 EACH tire) and dont grip the road very well. Overall the car is a great car. I'm thinking of trading my TL for the TL-S :p

Are these TL's gas hoggers? Somebody told me they were, but I have no idea. Don't know too much about cars yet, how does it compare?

For whatever it's worth, I HATED my Accord V-6 EX. I think the American-made Hondas are nothing to write home about.

Despite what others may tell you about the Acura TL, they are essentially Honda Accords. The cost differential will get you a better warranty and dealer treatment, however any performance gains are minimal when you consider the vast aftermarket for hondas.

The Accord EX V6 is a great buy, and can be had in many areas at invoice. Appropriate modifications can personlize the vehicle to suit your taste and performance needs. Remember to consider that some modifications (and most engine work) voids the warranty.

-In many cases important mods need only be directed towards suspension, trans and brake work. Any prolonged street race will stress these components far more than engine work.

freebee - with all those mods and stuff, wouldn't it push the price of the accord to essentially the same as the TL? plus the CL and TL both have higher horse power? and i love the climate control.

Don_Vito - what's wrong with your accord? can you share with us?

jimmygates - your TL is the 2001 one? besides the tire, you like everything else?

all in all, you guys prefer TL (i can understand the type s part, for it's added power) coz' it has 4 doors?

why would you pay 26k for an accord when you get a tl for 30.5k

i personnaly like the tl better because of 4 doors but thats just me.

If you really can get an Acura TL (not type S obviously) for about $4,500 more than an Accord then do it. Resale value.

Rominl: I had the 1999 Acura TL. The difference from the 1999 and the 2002 are the changed front design and 5-speed tranny instead of a 4-speed.

A cool thing about the car is it shares a similar platform with the Accord V6. So if your in the market for after market modifications, alot of Accord V6 parts will fit in the TL. :)

Like I said, the only complaint I had with the car was the crappy tires. You can easily get new better tires. Check out Acura TL forums if you want more information :)

I've been driving a 2000 Acura CL Type-S.. all i gotta say is that i love that car.. i drove the integra for a while before that and i kept on thinking that was underpowered.. this is a big jump from the 4 cylinder 140 hp teg.. this car is big, sporty, and fast.. and unbeatable deal for 31k..

Acura TL Type-S.

CL Type-S during the latter half of this year will be getting the six-speed manny. I'll bet a hundred bucks the TL Type-S will also get the six-speed manny in less than a year following. The car isn't much more than the Accords, I'd make the jump...

I like the TL over the CL because of lower insurance, higher utility, looks better (IMHO).

I hate the Acura's because the freaking rear seats don't fold down forcing me to lean towards a WRX Sportwagon right now =D.

'nuff said...
