I have had this camera since around christmas time and I've taken thousands of pictures with it, at least 3k. Just today I was taking pictures of some flowers, and then this line started appearing in all of them. After the line started appearing, I changed the lense, fooled around with some stuff and then it wouldn't go away. Then, this huge black thing started appearing in all of my pictures, and I did a sensor clean and there was this like plastic/metal thing stuck in front of the sensor. it looked like it was broken off of something..

I'm thinking maybe the second mirror isn't flipping up enough or something..

take a look for yourself

have any idea what's going on?

so I took that metal piece out from the sensor and then it went away ( of course) but I still get that weird line in every one of my pictures.

I bought the camera used around christmas time.. I'm not sure what's going on

any help is appreciated ..thanks

maybe thats the low pass filter that was causing the problem? and then you removed it? thats the first thing that comes to mind.

maybe this is what was damaged / you removed:

it was like broken, it wasn't supposed to be there, if you see it was a huge black thing in my pictures..

like it broke and then fell in front of the sensor

i saw the pics, but can you get a shot of the unknown item?...with another camera of course. it might help to identify.

It's broken. Either have it repaired if it's under warranty or replace it.

you havent tried to take pics of the sun have you? i read in the manual it can damage your camera somehow..

also take off your lens and watch the reflex mirror while you take a shot and see if it looks damaged (use bulb time exposure in manual)

nope haven't tried to take pictures of the sun.

I'll do the bulb thing, but I've been googling and it looks like a mirror issue or something..

there are two mirrors, there is the main one and another resides just below the main. and the second flips up under the main when you're shooting.
