Yet another Bush administration lie about American and world security

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The terrorist threat against the United States in the run-up to the November election is as serious as at any time since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, acting CIA (news - web sites) Director John McLaughlin said on Tuesday.

But, but, but . . . President Bush said we are safer. Vice President Cheney said we are safer. For God's sake, FOXNews said we are safer!

"Today, because America has acted and because America has led, the forces of terror and tyranny have suffered defeat after defeat, and America and the world are safer," Mr. Bush said.

Dude, the Bush quote is from 7/13 and the McLaughlin quote is from 7/14. Obviously things were safer yesterday (that's when he said "today" not actually today and he meant that day), but now they are just as unsafe as they ever were, because the election is coming up.
