One of my pet peeves when driving.

I was stuck behind some people in the passing lane once and a guy was riding my bumper in his fuckin Mercedes so I moved over just so I could laugh at him get stuck behind the next guy. He passes me and gives me this stare of death as I'm laughing at him and pointing to the next car in line and the guy flips me the bird. He must have just found out his wife was cheating on him or something. Nobody can go through life that angry all the time.

I have never been tailgated or cut off with more regularity until I bought a Prius. It is like people think me a gutless dweeb just waiting to be taken advantage of. Funny thing is I drive the same way I always have, being I'd say a slightly more aggressive driver than most without being rude. Now, I could be the last car in a line of cars getting off the expressway and someone will run up and shoehorn themselves in front of me even though there is half a mile of open road behind me and maybe a couple of car lengths in front. I'm glad I've mellowed in my old age because I could see this car getting me in trouble 30 years ago.

Note to self: Never drive prius.

Ah shit what am I saying, I drive a Honda Fit. I'll do something about that eventually. But its just so damn practical.

I take it you were on 4 wheels instead of 2 and therefore unable to lane split :hmm:

Yes, I drove the car in this morning. I haven't been commuting on the motorcycle as much lately. Plus, the car is cheaper to operate and more comfortable. Trying to keep the big miles off the Ducati.

Also, this was on a 2 lane road (one lane each direction) so technically you can't lane split and there are no passing zones on this road either because it is twisty and hilly with a lot of blind corners. It is actually a fun road on a bike if you can hit it with no traffic.

I was in CA earlier this week and someone went zooming by me lane splitting and I nearly had a heart attack thinking I was about to get crushed in a car accident

that shit needs to be banned

I'm starting to think my car is the only one in this town that was built with blinkers. WTF is up with people not using their turn signals. Fucking assholes.

I'm driving in actual Detr oit and they have short entrance ramps onto expressway. Guy can't manage merge and I can't let him on or I crash. Guy tailgates me for a good spell. I decide to get off and go to nearby mini police station if necessary. Crap, light is red at top of ramp. Guy gets out with club in hand and smashing sheet metal and window. I pull out my 45 and close range him, down and death imminent. Crowds of thugs fast approaching, I high tail it to mini station. I was arrested until sorted. Left on bond, appeared in court and charges were dismissed. Guy lived but wheel chair bound for life. Cost a lot of money but the real pressure was the fear for my life. Been there many times (fear for my life) and never liked any of them but I am still breathing. Guy even tried to sue me, didn't get a nickle but the lawyer did.

I had a woman on a stretch like this today. She was gesturing and everything. I can opt to hop on the highway or go back roads to get home. After realizing she wasn't going on the highway, I stayed on backroads just so I could go the speed limit infront of her.

I WIN!

I never understand full-on adults who are that impatient. Grow the fuck up. Unless you're stuck behind 1 guy for 15 minutes, just turn up the music and just relax.

Even though the op may have been in the right this time, you're still a douche and a terrible driver yourself. YAJMRBT.

There were at least 15 cars in front of me. We were at the mercy of the slow guy at the front.

Pressuring me accomplished absolutely nothing.
That slow guy 15 cars up is the most dangerous driver on the road.

If I am two or three cars behind someone holding a huge line up below the limit for miles I flash and honk to encourage the people in front of me to do the same. Make sure the driver isn't simply oblivious. I'm telling them to express the line's displeasure on our behalf. Pass it on. If I'm directly behind the person holding up a line for miles I make sure they aren't oblivious to what they are doing, especially if we are approaching another speed limit sign, though I am carefully that I don't distract them from it (sometimes they honestly thought the speedlimit was lower).

I can understand this thought process to an extent but honestly if the guy in front doesn't know how to not obstruct traffic then there isn't much anyone further down the line is going to be able to do to get the driver to move over. It is best to just wait it out.

If I am in the left most lane driving 10mph below the speed limit even though I want to be doing 10 over and can't because there are 6 cars in front of me going too slow, if someone starts tailgating me the first thing I think is that they're an idiot and can't see that I'm not the reason the lane is going so slow.

Put a flood light facing backwards in the back seat. Turn it on the next time he tailgates you

i agree...this driver is getting other drivers mad...if a normal flow is maintained then all is well but a slow driver is bad.

Tailgaters are tools. I try not to do it myself, even though every day on my commute to and from work there's a fuckton of absolute fucking knuckledragging dipshits in the LEFT lane not even doing the speed limit, holding up traffic. Fucking christ I'd like to drag the fuckers out of their vehicles, shoot them in the head, and kick their worthless bodies into the ditch.

Best post in the thread.

Unfortunately in NJ changing lanes is like parallel parking. If you don't tailgate when someone is slow in the left lane you will get cutoff repeatedly until you actually start moving backwards.

Tailgating is dangerous and I do not allow dipshits to tailgate me. If I can, I will pull over and let them pass, and if I can't, I WILL brake check them as many times as is necessary.

And if, when stopped, I need to get out of my car and engage in a bit of educational discourse, I do that, too . . . but only as a last resort. Please note that I do pull over enough to let them pass, even on two lane roads, first.

No, I do not CC, and no, I do not live in fear. Cowards die a thousand deaths. That's simply not for me.

Slow down. You have a jackass on your tail and a line of cars up front. Create space between you and the car in front so that if the line ahead suddenly slows you have room to slow without (hopefully) getting rear ended and certainly not getting rearended and pushed into the car in front of you. If jackass uses the space to whip around you, at least he ain't tailgating you anymore. Just create space in front of yourself again so when he rear ends the poor bastard in front of you, you aren't involved. Also, flip him off. :p

Sadly, there are many drivers like this. It doesn't matter to them if there are another 2000 cars after you back down. The conquest is all that matters.

You should ensure you can brake a whole lot faster than me...

I have no care if my car gets hit, someone someday isn't going to react to my brake check fast enough. :colbert:

Speaking of bad drivers, there's a new season of Canada's Worst Driver that just started.

It's scary that some of these people actually have a license.

Not gonna happen pal! I thought of brake checking him but that's not cool.

Kind of irritated me. I've seen this guy before too, always in a fuckin' hurry. Douche.

<--Waiting for the posts telling me what I was doing wrong in this scenario. :whiste:

Your enraged. Get an Audio Book for the drive.
