yet another 2001FP thread

just got my 2001FP today. it's a pretty incredible monitor. there are a few problems i'm experiencing though.

this is pretty specific, so let me give you the full rundown. i'm running a dual monitor setup - the 2001FP and a dell 17" CRT. i'm using the omega 61.77 drivers, and i've used refreshforce to force my refresh rates to a maximum on the CRT. the 2001FP is on my DVI connection at 1600x1200 @ 60 Hz (of course), and the 17" CRT is at 1280x1024 @ 75 Hz (on d-sub). they're both running off my PNY 6800GT.

there are two major problems.

1) in what i believe to be an auto-adjust attempt by the 2001FP, the monitor will go into powersave (blank black screen, amber light), then come back. i am not sure what's triggering this; i'm guessing it's something systematic that i haven't identified.

2) here's the biggie: i'm using media player classic with the matroska pack, along with a few other codecs. when i attempt to play a video in full screen (and, for some, at large sizes), i'm getting terrible scanlines. that may not be the proper term; i don't know how i can describe it. there are sharp horizontal lines jutting out of edges in the videos. i'm guessing it's a codec problem ( that somehow doesn't manifest itself on my CRT), or perhaps a problem with my manual refresh rate overrides. also: it appears that, no matter what i do with the video on the 2001FP (resizing, fullscreen, etc), it's showing up in fullscreen on the CRT as well.

i'd do away with the refresh rate overrides, but i'm still an avid CS player (that's why i'm bothering with the CRT).

getting it to stop displaying on the CRT as well was pretty easy - just an option i had left on in nView. the bigger problem still exists though, and i'm running out of things to try. help!

Try using driver cleaner and getting rid of the Omega drivers and use the default Nvidia drivers (try one of the 65 or 66 serries of drivers) and see if you still have the issues. also make sure the 2001FP is set as your primary display and your just expanding your desktop to the CRT. Hope this helps... :)

thanks for the response. i just tried something - i set the CRT to primary, and used the advanced display options to have fullscreen video default to the 2001FP - it's coming in crystal clear now.

i was using the 2001FP as the primary and was just expanding the desktop. i'll try to clean out my drivers now.

driver cleaning and the latest WHQL certified betas seem to be doing the trick. now to tempt fate and get refreshforce up and running...

thanks again, arcane.
