I'm one of them I just lost my highest producing cow, a g4 450. The sysadmin said he noted the machine was sagging and that it disappeared after he removed the faceless cow that was running and rebooted (I know, it could have a million other things, but some people just want to blame the cow )

Bakwetu - RC5 DOES noticebly slow down macs on machines less than OS X...I am assuming that OS X, due to preemptive multi-tasking allows it to be trully idle, but on OS 9 and below, the OS has to &quot;share&quot; the time, rather than merely using idle time.

Ouch, I didn't know that. I am trying to convince him to install a task manager program to run rc5 during evenings and holidays when the machine isn't used, but I noticed he didn't seem to be very enthusiastic about it
