<...why would you assume that the universe is an entity to be telling anything at all?..>

Why would you assume that it isn't? Nevertheless, the Universe is an entity, it exists, whether or not it's sentient.

<...what's the difference in believing that the universe could be telling us something, and a supreme being with another name that isn't "the universe"?..>

Unlike the latter, the former does not require the suspension of disbelief.

<< The apparent lack of uniform concensus about what the Universe is trying to tell us, if anything, seems to deliver us to the conclusion that any such message is a matter of personal interpretation. >>

I don't draw that conclusion at all. It is just as rational to conclude that there is no "message" at all, that there is a "message" but only some of us get it, or that the "message" (or truth) is simply beyond the comprehension of us.

A lack of consensus is a poor argument for or against a proposition.

And if the proposition is that a consensus exists?

Why would you assume that it isn't?

I never implied that.
I'm not the one that refuses to 'believe' in ideas independent of impirical data.

This tenet seems contradictory to your platform.

The tenets of suspensionary contradictions to a lack of propositional consensus is merely a means to interpret the entity. Yep. You heard me right. Talking out my wooooo as usual:). The universe has a lot to tell us, but I don't think it has anything to say about what the purpose of life is. Why would the universe have anything more to say than our own planet? If you go ahead and personify the universe, still, I don't see the universe going to great lengths to make its plan known to us. We are just insignificant humans. Why would the universe want to tell us anything anyway...;)

(gosh, I'm gonna' make UG so proud of me)
