It could be one of the servers from the killer deal in Hot Deals forum. Don't be so quick to judge.

It was $1700 after shipping. The lady that worked for gateway that I ordered it through gave me a $100 discount. I'm gonna add (I already have this stuff) 128mb more ram (gateway wanted 100 bucks for the upgrade), a 12x10x32x cdrw, and a zip drive

I'm soo excited. I wanted to build my own, but I'm too lazy, and feel like taking the time to do it. It'll be here next week!

even if he didn't get the server deal, who cares, he isn't good enough to build his own pc yet, so he isn't. at least he's buying gateway over hp, compaq or emachine trash

What the heck is "performance enhancing cache memory"???
Poor users without enough knowledge being fooled by the marketing department...:D
Sounds nice, but...

as long as you are happy with your new 'puter it doesn't matter what everyone else says. When I was 8 I was sooooo proud of my POS Pac Bell.

I would have built one, but it was more like a present from my parents. They agreed to pay 3/4, and I would pay the rest.

Seriously, shouldn't Packard Bell be out of buisness? Or are they still the #1 choice for AOL users.

I think NEC and Packard Bell merged to become an even bigger POS computer company. If you're going to buy a pre-built desktop Dell or Gateway is the only way to go. Or Micron or Quantex but Micron quit the PC business and Quantex went banko!

<< What the heck is "performance enhancing cache memory"??? >>

its the main difference between the K75 core and the thunderbird core. they moved the cache from the daughtercard to the die. so the cache runs at core MHz instead of 350MHz or less. so yeah, the claim is true. (not quite as good as intel's in bandwidth terms, 256 bit wide vs 64 bit wide, but the exclusivity is nice)

Compaq's aren't crap. I got my computer cheap, like $800 for a 600mhz PIII Machine w/ 19" Monitor. I mean, the monitor itself was $200 at the time, and the parts were like 3X the price of what they are now.
