College can be much more difficult, especially if you don't go into something with definite career options (like business, computer science, engineering, etc.). I am graduating this next spring with a B.S. in Economics and I have nowhere near the options available to me that my CS and Accounting friends do.

Just keep your head up and live it. You'll come out okay.

Why not? I mean c'mon, you're really limiting yourself here! What is something that you ACTUALLY like doing? You can't just sit on your ass all day after high school. You need to either go to college where you'll experience more academia, go to the military, where you'll be doing hard labor all day every day, but you'll have a guaranteed job forever, or you can flip burgers and get $6.75/hr. for it.

Take your pick. Sorry...we can't all just play computer games all day.

Well, entertainment is my fortay. I love entertainment, the people involved in it, etc. I want to make games (be an artist) or help make movies. I don't think I could handle any other sort of job. Entertainment allows the most creativity which is why I'm so interested in it. I'm not some kid who likes to just go to the movies every Friday, I'm fvcking hardcore. I'm serious as hell about movies and games and it's what I want to do.

Go to a school that specializes in computer graphics. I used to know a guy that was invited to work on Episode 2 back when it was in production, and he hadn't even graduated yet. That may be something you can look into.

dude college is NOT school.

it is completely freakin different. college is about a billion times easier than HS if you ask me because you ARENT sitting in a class all day. you have so much autonomy and freedom it's ridiculous.

what you should do is go on an overnight visit at a college you're considering.......

Eh... whaaaa? The job market sucks for c.s. grads right now. By more difficult, do you mean more stressful, like worrying about the future? Yeah, I suppose... But I wouldn't say economics compares to computer science or engineering in terms of pure difficulty.

idNut - college is great because you're doing what YOU want to do, so it doesn't seem so much like work. You also have a lot more freedom - you spend an average of 3 hours a day in class. College is a great experience. Hang in there, and good luck with everything.

That is actually precisely what I am talking about. At least if I had a CS degree I might have a few more options for where to go next in my schooling.

There's a college somewhere for people that want to go into game development. You might want to look into it.

Relax. A lot. You might not realize it now, but high school will mean NOTHING in a few years.

Take a light load at college, and don't take any majors because your family wants you to, or because "there's money in it." You'll hate it, and you won't succeed. For now, take stuff you're interested in. It's OK. Take things one step at a time. Worry about the future when it comes.

Whoa! Relax! I have to say that you are taking things way too seriously. You are in HS! Senior years sucks. You can taste the freedom. College is liberating. Professors don't give a rats dupa if you are there or not it is all about you, what you want, what you want from the money you invest in the college of your choice. But you are not there yet and that is not the issue.

I'm 31 now lived the pain you are going through. I hated HS since my sophomore year. Thought it was a waste. I even spoke to my teachers and the agreed with my angle on HS. Just do your time and be thankful you don't have any responsibilities. And believe me you don't. I don't care what you think. Getting good grades yeah but big deal. Listen in class take doodles that pertain to the subject and you will pass. When I was in your shoes I would have said yeah right old man, what do you know. Well I learned that my father actually did know. He wasn't as stupid as I thought. I have to say it again. YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL. Worry about a zit or if the hot girl next to you noticed you just couldn't hold back that fart anymore.

Today I worry about my Wife and two children, apt building, its mortgage, my home mortgage, two car payments, credit card payments, utilities, responsibilities at work, loosing my job, cell phone payment, cutting the grass, paying taxes, doctor visits for the children, the list goes on as many here can agree with. Just be happy you don't have to deal with things like this, YET. You are writing a screen play, WTF? I don't even have time to write a letter or a poem anymore. My photography hobby is gone, I don't take vacations anymore. I work, clean the house, feed the family work some more then go to sleep. I have issues of my own.

Let's just forget everything and get a pint of Guinness. (I'm not promoting drinking just a nice relaxing pint of strength)

I was in the same boat with a different situation. I was soooo fvcking stressed out I felt like I was going to explode at any given moment. I also was afraid I could not control my reactions. My Doc put me on Paxil and I never looked back since.....awesome stuff makes me feel like a human being again. Also the people who severily pissed me off in the past don't bother me anymore ;)

Well, if High School years are the best in life, I don't see the point in living. From the description of your life, I'd be better off dead. Worrying about all the things listed above just sounds like life is nothing but worrying and work.

Relax and fight the fires one at a time.

well i'm studying what i like too but there is still the stress of assignments, projects, tests etc it's not much if you manage your time well but if you procrastinate, well.. i won't make that mistake again.

and in highschool, trying to get good enough marks for a good university was stressful too... english class was worth 1/4 of the marks...

Grades are everything man. Hang in there. Seniors have it tough because they have to be on top of everything before the application deadline. Hey man, here's what can do wonders for you. Work really, really hard. Get your stuff done. Then take like a 15-30min break. Relax, do nothing if you have to. Work really, really hard. Repeat. Honestly a 30min break and concentrate on all the good things in life. Then get back to work. You're a human being, you'll never stop working to provide for yourself and other. Take school with a grain of salt, it's important, but it's not everything to be the absolute best.
