Rant Yes, Chili does has beans.

So guys, which beans IYHO are best suited for Chili? I think Black Beans are best.
I use black beans in most of my Mexican or Tex-Mex foods that have beans. Occasionally sometimes pink beans will do in a pinch. Never dark red kidney beans.

if you're going to serve beans with your chili use pinto, which is the tex mex bean. black turtle beans are carribbean and south america, kidney are creole bean commonly found in louisianan cooking.
 
also, Marco Polo is a myth....he actually never existed. He's just the fictional narrator in a travel book, the most popular version of the most popular genre of written entertainment in the day, for which there were dozens of such fictional characters and identical books.

That is pure and utter bullshit. His existence is well established and universally accepted by anyone that isn't a complete crackpot. It might be possible that his travel stories are just that, stories that he narrated or that others wrote in his voice and it's possible that he never went to China himself. But his family was quite prominent and he had many relatives who indisputably went to Asia. So it's not too far-fetched to believe that his tales are real or at the worst second-person accounts of people he actually knew.

Completely wrong. Did you get that from the same "Stories pulled out of somebody's ass" almanac where Zin picked up his Marco Polo conspiracy theories? Black beans are native to South and Central America and would have been present in Mexico in great abundance when chili came into being. Chili can be made with ANY beans and "authentic" chili could easily have first used black beans instead of pinto beans. Nobody knows for sure as there are many beans from that region that might have been used.

no shit they're native, they're just not historically common in tex mex cuisine which is what we're talking about. pinto was and is.

this is as bad as claiming that you're still drinking a martini when you don't use any gin or vermouth.

Speaking of beans, anyone ever used Anasazi Beans in Chili before? I'm thinking about buying some and trying them Chili.

Anasazi BeansThe anasazi bean is named after the extinct Anasazi or the Pueblo Indians. This new, yet ancient bean has the most amazing history behind it. One story has it that in the 1950s, archeologists in one of the Anasazi digs found a sealed, clay pot with a few of these beans in it. (Carbon dating determined them to be 1,500 years old.) Some of them sprouted and the modern anasazi beans all come from those few beans. As the Anasazi Indians left their homes in the late 1200s AD, however, this would have made those beans at a minimum 750 years old! (That is, if you ignore the carbon dating.) It's generally understood by seed viability specialists today that 50 years is about as long as a seed can remain viable which puts this story into question. There is another story that the first settlers who moved into this area found these beans growing wild around the Pueblo ruins then locally cultivated them. Years later, those same archeologists found the same kind of beans in that clay pot dating back to Anasazi times. I called up the company that patented and grows the anasazi bean. The sales representative told me the story is indeed true, some of those ancient seeds did sprout, but she added that most likely, the vast majority of the seeds they used to build up the crop probably came from local gardeners in the area. A California accountant, Ernis Waller learned of the bean and with his agronomist partner, Bruce Riddell's efforts, this bean has been brought to the public. The anasazi was first commercially sold around 1983. The anasazi bean is now just gaining a foot-hold in the market.

The anasazi is a white bean with a maroon patern and is a cousin to the pinto bean. They have a flavorful, sweet taste and are easier to digest and therefore cause less gas than the other beans. Interestingly, the anasazi bean only has 25% of the gas producing properties of the pinto which falls roughly in the middle of the gas producing scale. Like the other beans, they rehydrate to three times their size but cook in less time than similar beans their size. Anasazi beans can be substituted for pinto or red kidney beans in your favorite dishes. Not just another bean, the anasazi is flavorful, adaptable, and full of nutrition. And eating them gives one a sense of being in touch with the ancient Indians who gave them to us.

Some guys who worked for me played it on their xboxes and wanted me to join. I had to make a games for Windows live account and this is the username it suggested for me. The registration asked a few questions then gave lists of words to matchup. This was the second or third suggested choice.

Anyone who actually had Chili damn well knows that True Chili contains Chili peppers and beans. Get this right Damn you.

Well, then, since you are dissing Hormel chili con carne without beans (my all time favorite, hands down) as "3rd rate," please provide me with a recipe to make chili you regard as great/the-real-thing. Preferably an Instant Pot recipe, since I newly have one. I have a pretty fully equipped kitchen, however.

The only folks that eat canned chili are those who don't either know how to make the dish, or are very time timed limited due to working way to much. Now I never made before this, but soon I will make this stew.

Well, good luck. I've tried many times to make a chili con carne that rivals Hormel without beans but have failed every time, not even close.

Anyway can make damn meat sauce and add Chili peppers to it or not. Hormel brand "chili" with or without beans doesn't even have chili peppers which means that isn't even isn't chili at.
