Yellow tint to the LCD on a laptop

I just picked up a used thinkpad t20 for a pretty good price off of ebay. Got it today from ups (Thank God the seller packed it well, because there was a big gash down the side of the box), and powered it up. The laptop seems to have a yellow tint to the screen. I kind of think it's a bad/poor LCD, because there is almost a gradient as you get farther up the screen. It's entirely useful, just quite annoying.

Does this sound like a defect? Is it something that might have been caused by the rough handling my UPS and the cold weather? I'm not sure I can live with the screen this way, but I hate to sell it again because I got such a good deal on it. For all other intents and purposes, the laptop works great.

Edit: OK, so this laptop is in warranty. Gonna call tomorrow and find out if they'll fix it, if it is infact a defect.

Have you tried adjusting the colors, if the video card driver provides the option?

Hopefully they didn't use an amonia based product to clean the screen with. What a drag.

Yeah, I was thinking a screen cleaner with alcohol or something. Alcohol can make plastic turn yellow and even crack.

Hmmm...alcohol based cleaner sounds likely, that doesn't totally explain the gradient in the color, however, it's uniform enough to make me think that the alcohol based cleaner thing is possible. The uniform color could also mean it's just age, which in that case, they may replace it under warranty (fingers crossed)

I suppose I could learn to live with it. I'm calling IBM tomorrow and seeing what they can do. Parts are covered under warranty, but labor isn't, however, I can't imagine labor would be too bad (ha, famous last words ).
