LMAO, now you're going to deny that the GOP's base of power is with white southerners, this should be good!

Perhaps that's the case, but so what. But in your warped, one sided mind white southerner = confederate racist. What a fucktard.

You can just stop there. That is 100% wrong. There were thousands of white slaves. It had nothing to do with race.

Vice President of the Confederacy:
Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.

I can do this all day. Just in this thread we've got the President, the Vice President, and a quarter of the states in the Confederacy on the record as saying you're wrong. How many more do I need before you just admit you're wrong?

I'm sure you can. I can't refute that there were racists among the Confederacy. You win that debate, if there ever was one. Congrats. 🙄

Edit: The current president and vice president say things too. I must agree with all of them seeing is how I consider myself an American citizen, amiright? 🙄

Look how sheltered and fucking retarded you are. You're telling me that the area of the country where shit like this still happens:

http://cw.ua.edu/2013/09/11/the-final-barrier-50-years-later-segregation-still-exists/

And where there are still segregated proms in the south, those people don't represent the GOP's base of power? Get fucking real.

So urban, inner city, america, which represents the base of the democrat party, is completely representative of the entire party then? You get fucking real, fucktard.

lol. So more leadership explicitly stating that the Confederacy was based on racial supremacy still doesn't count because...well... because you say so.

These aren't just random people saying that the Confederacy is based on racial supremacy, this is the President of the Confederacy. The Vice President of the Confederacy. The states that seceded to form the Confederacy. In writing and in speeches explicitly made to proclaim their ideological stance.

Here is the Confederate Constitution on the matter

Article 1:9:

No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.

Note: Not slaves, negro slaves.

Article 4:3:

In all such territory, the institution of negro slavery as it now exists in the Confederate States, shall be recognized and protected by Congress, and by the territorial government

Note: Not slaves, negro slaves.

EDIT: Now we've got the President, Vice President, a quarter of the states, and the Constitution explicitly marking out negroes. I'll ask again, how much more do I have to pile on you?

And quite similarly those same southerners weren't affected by the balance of power between the states and the federal government, nor by the economics of no longer being able to own slaves.

People individually fight for thousands of different reasons, social, cultural, etc. It doesn't change the simple fact that the South seceded over slavery. Those responsible for the intellectual basis for the perpetuation of slavery are concretely and repeatedly on record espousing its benefits on racist grounds. This is not a secret, all of these documents are publicly available.

I get how people don't want to accept that their ancestors were awful people. I'm sure those people who harbored racist sentiments towards blacks had many admirable qualities otherwise. It doesn't change the fact that they were racists.

I understand what you are saying. Is a symbol's meaning able to be transformed?

As to the bold, I think that's an overly broad statement, I highly doubt every southerner who fought, or just lived in the south was a racist or shared the views of southern leadership. It makes you sound like a geographical bigot. Which is generally an acceptable view to have on this forum.

LMAO, look how angry you are when confronted by your own party's racism. The South is a racist/homophobic/xenophobic shithole, deal reality you moron.

No, because slavery was viewed different back then. Back then, it was a means to an end. There were plenty of people who had to resort to indentured servitude as a way of life, just like any other job, because they could not survive without it. I'm talking about the slaves as much as the slave owners here.

There was plenty of this going on in the North at the time as well. It wasn't just a southern tradition. Look at the Irish as an example.
Indentured servitude is not the same thing as slavery. Are indentured servants the only cases of white "slavery"?

The northerners were racist too, you realize. They just weren't trying to codify it into law to the same extreme extent.

Every single person fighting for an objective does not need to share the same exact reason for you to draw a conclusion about it.

EDIT: By the way yes, a symbol's meaning can be transformed. I think in order to do that however, one must acknowledge what it has meant in the past in order to do so honestly. Quite a few people today attempt to deny its past or whitewash it, as xbiffx is attempting to do.

Facts and logic are like kryptonite to conservatives like Biff.

Having a tough time deciding between who is the bigger idiot, Phokus or eskimospy. Both are trying to beat each other for top spot right now.

I also wanted to take a second and post my apologies to the OP for being a part of this derailment. I am going to do what's in my power to put an end to it and stop posting off topic at this point. Its not like its going to be difficult, I'm arguing with a box of rocks at this point anyways.

Having knowledge = being an idiot, in the eyes of a conservative. THIS is what is wrong with the conservative movement.

Remember when we were discussing Venus I was wrong about the impact of CO2 on Venus's atmosphere? I said that after closer inspection of the facts that I was wrong and you were right. You can do that too.

With Obama's policies, there was bound to be an extreme response. When the balance tilts to one side there will be some pushback against it. Combine that with fearmongering talk radio and you have a lot of people protesting, angry and scared. We have a President who is expanding government constantly and the radio guys are going to get on him about it. So it kind of goes both ways. Neither side really cares about what is responsible or not - once again, it'll all about their issues and their causes.

The division is growing further because everyone wants to convince everyone else instead of listening. This is our society and this is what is taught from the time we are young. To compete, to outstruggle, to outfight and to succeed even if it means hurting other people.

Next up, someone will provide evidence that slaves were beaten and lynched. Biff will then explain to us how this had nothing to do with race and everything to do with economics.

I don't know what the term is for hatred of a location. But you certainly have it.

I guess hatred is okay if it's based towards a region? Bad if its based on skin color/religion/sexual orientation?

Do as he's says, not how he acts. I don't know who is the more perfect example of an angry young Democrat....phokus or bshole as both throw major temper tantrums and display hatred far worse than others in the forum.

I have lots of reasons to hate the south, besides the stuff i mentioned above, it's the region that cries about 'socialism' the most, but then you have this shit:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ate-socialism-graphic-says-gop-leaning-state/

But hey, if it makes you feel any better, i also hate the backwoods parts of northern states like NY and MA, they might as well be the south as well, it's just that, they have almost no political or economic power up here.

I have yet see anyone answer the question. What policy was this guy opposing?

Hey how come we can't criticize the President without being called racist.

Here's you chance. I've made no conclusions but ask "What policy is this guy opposing??

As for the Tea Party go ahead ignore the fact they showed up, took over the veterans protest and started the Kenyan Mooslim surrender and go home speeches.

but...but the Tea Party had nothing to do with this!

Did you not see the US Marine flag in the picture in your OP? I will be bet this guy is a....................wait for it...................veteran was well.

Maybe you should be be more descriptive of who you hate. For fear of sounding like a location-racist.

Look at how this can be taken the wrong way.

Let's say I hate purse-snatchers, and it just so happened that my purse was snatched by a mexican. I then proclaim I hate mexicans. Well no I hate purse-snatchers.

You hate what a lot of southerners are, not the fact that they are from the south. If you would just be more specific you would be taken a lot more seriously.

Unless of course you just straight up hate the south for completely irrational and illogical reasons. Would you let your daughter date a southerner?
