i watched one of those 'how it's made' shows about how they produce that kind of oil - it's some nasty looking stuff.

production was pretty cool though - they used a walking rig that drilled multiple holes in fairly close proximity to each other and pumped steam at ~40 atmospheres from a plant about a km away.
