It's been a crazy travel year and its only April. A lot of not great firsts for us so far despite how much we've traveled to this point

While I have a lengthy list of airports I've ran through we've never missed a connection until this year. This year we missed two in less than a week due to mechanical issues
Network failure at a border patrol (Costa Rica). Fortunately we were early because that line got loooong. Stood around for about 45min until it came back
Saw an entire airport food court run out of food due to so many delayed flights. Dinner ended up being half an Auntie Anne's pretzel and some overpriced Combos
First landing wave off due to wind shear. Also the roughest landing I've been through. Those pilots got a well deserve round of applause when we were on the ground
Broken jet bridge so got some bonus time sitting in an aircraft sardine can before finally getting off the plane
Check-in glitch putting me as the very last to board instead of one of the first. Baffled the airline agent too but she was nice enough to let me board when I was supposed to

Ok @brianmanahan you might actually have something about waiting to travel. Unfortunately I've got another trip in April, 3 in May, and one each in June and July.

That's rough.

My only big flight story for this year was our return trip from Paris. In the cab, heading to the airport, Icelandair sends me a text that our flight is cancelled, but they automatically rebooked us on an Air France direct flight that would get us in an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

Turns out, the Icelandair flight wasn't fully cancelled, just so delayed, we would have missed the connection. Overall, a big upgrade for going home: AF has free meal service with alcohol in economy, the seats were a little better, and the infotainment system was superior.

whew, no travel for me! besides i was just given a work deadline so tight that basically nobody's allowed to take vacation until the last 2 months of this year. so probably not even a road trip for me this summer.

good luck on your future travels... i'm hoping by 2030 things might be back to normal. i still haven't gone inside anywhere without a mask yet, my grandma would kill me if she found out i did. she's still fully convinced that it's still april 2020 out there, and hasn't stepped out of her house except to get COVID shots in the past 3 years.

Never slept on an airport floor until this year, and in a non-english-speaking foreign country too!

You ever get on a plane, leave the gate, return to the gate, and then have to re-clear customs, get your luggage, and sleep on a airport floor then get in line at 5:30am to get re-ticketed.

Eesh - that doesn't sound like much fun at all

Always look on the bright side, if your flight gets cancelled it elliminates the chance that they loose your luggage!
HBO baby (hand baggage only)

I made it. Except there is only one gate and another plane beat us to it. So now it's midnight and we're sitting on the tarmack for the last 30 minutes.

Ugh that's the worst. You can see freedom but they just won't give it to you
