Yeah new Zelda game (with video)

Heck yea! I had a ton of fun playing Phantom Hourglass. This looks awesome. I am a huge Zelda fanboy. I have no problems admitting that. 🙂

That kinda seemed stupid with the train, but knowing Nintendo and how awesome the Phantom Hourglass was, you can count on it being kick ass.

I need to go back and finish Phantom Hourglass. The train seems lame (just like the boat) but the rest looks great.

Aesthetically, it looks good. I just hope it's not as repetitive as Phantom Hourglass. That was the first Zelda I truly disliked since Zelda II.

I actually really loved Wind Waker, boat included. The train seems like a very similar idea...but it won't really give you freedom like the boat did. You go where the tracks take you...

More goofy, gimmicky crap...ugh, what happened to the good Zeldas of old?

BTW, Zelda 2 rocked. 🙂

They're still right here. The basic tenets of Zelda gameplay have not gone anywhere. Enter a dungeon, get a new weapon / item, use that object (and previous objects) to solve puzzles in new and interesting ways, eventually reach and defeat a boss, and then collect whatever it is you're after in the game (Triforce piece, pendant, instrument, etc.).

I hated Phantom Hourglass. I know I'm in the minority on that one, but I haven't been able to get into a Zelda since Link to the Past.

You're not alone. I played Phantom Hourglass on my friend's DS and couldn't stand it after an hour. Goofy, gimmicky crap that has no place in a Zelda game. Wind Waker was much the same way, but at least it was still "traditional Zelda" in a way so at least tolerable.

So, Nintendo has been going this new, stupid direction with Zelda, then they release the awesome Twilight Princess. I am confused.

😕

But, it looks like it's right back to the gimmicky junk again. Oh well, saved time and money for me!

DIE IN A FIRE OP!

Got me thinking there was actual news on a new Zelda game for the Wii (which, according to the rumors, is going to be incredibly badass as it won't be a relative port of a Game Cube game like Twilight Princess was). The portable games are fun and all, but generally not nearly as epic (only one that comes close is Links Awakening).

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't like Phantom Hourglass. I know the Zelda titles are all about innovation and I'm a fan of the series but Hourglass just seemed to far out there. The original Gameboy Zelda games were always just as good and deep as the console ones. The DS ones though seem to be targeting a much younger audience. Sure the basic formula is still the same but something feels missing. I guess we just grew up with Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and Ocarina of Time, were wowed to pieces, and everything else seems crap by comparison. 😛

I didnt like TPH for the simple fact, it no longer used the class controls...
who wants to play zelda with a STYLUS???
If I want to do that, Id be buying one of those shitty apple things they advertise on TV with the weird commercial.

I haven't finished Phantom Hourglass either. I don't mind the stylus control so much but I HATE going to that one big dungeon all the time (I forgot the name since its been awhile) after defeating a boss/completing a smaller dungeon. You guys who played PH know what I'm talking about. This new one looks like more of the same except it has that choo choo train gimmick.

After playing Ocarina of Time... I just don't think anything else will compare.

I've tried these on the DS and end up getting about 2 weeks in and then just get bored/frustrated.

This is precisely my problem with TPH as well...boring and repetitive constantly going back to that one dungeon.

I'm excited! 😀

The wife and I snuggled up in bed and she would watch me while I played Phantom Hourglass or vice versa. Showed this to her and she was so excited lol.

You're obviously in the HUGE minority. Every Zelda game after Ocarina of Time has still been awesome.

Ocarina of Time was absolutely amazing. It is referred to as the best console game ever by numerous people and review sites. I personally feel it is the best console game ever made still to this day.

I loved Zelda 1 and 2 on the NES and A Link to the Past on the SNES.

As far as a DS Zelda goes I do not have a DS yet, but when they release the next DSi with the bigger dual screens I will be getting one and this game looks like a certain one to look at.

there hanst been a GREAT zelda since ALTTP... minish cap was somewhat fun... but dissappointing in that you had to beat it 3x to get the 100% and the last magic shield.
we finally have a new 2D mario... now we need another 2D overhead zelda like ALTTP.

I have to disagree. OoT was as a GREAT game, maybe even as GREAT as ALttP.

Also, a lot of the 2d gameboy zeldas were GREAT, like Link's Awakening and the Oracles.

I love Link's Awakening so much. Nintendo needs to release it (original or color version, I'm not picky) on the Wii Virtual Console.
