We just purchased an 05 Dodge quad cab SLT.

Test drove the Titan XE and that thing is all motor, I am a Nissan guy so I thought it would be a no brainer but it didn't look nearly as good or drive as well as the Dodge. One other small thing about the Nissan is that they incorporate a few other controls into the stereo system(I don't remember the specifics) and that will make upgrading a pain.

The Chevy Silverado LS with the 5.3 and was rather disappointing it was just an average truck, it didn't do anything poorly but it didn't shine in any area either.

I didn't look at the Fords because I just couldn't own another Ford (despite loving my Mustang) and didn't look at the Toyota's because the price.

I really liked the look of the Dodge and it felt really solid, I just can't believe we bought a new vehicle :(

I hate to tell you this but i read a time magazine artical about the HEMI engines. They are made in mexico and cost almost half as much it takes to manufacture a regular V8 engine.

how much extra did you pay for your HEMI than getting a V8? you got ripped off.

What kind of gas mileage can you expect on that kinda truck? I've been looking at trucks myself, but not as a daily driver one. I really like the R/T models from Dodge...I was looking at something sporty, but also functional, too.

The difference between the 4.7 235hp and 5.7 345hp is $1k, I don't care if it's cheaper for them to produce I want the truck to be able to get out of it's own way.

It will be used just a transportation and it gets between 14 and 18mpg.

You know you could have bought a smaller, more fuel efficient, and more environmentally friendly vehicle...

It's a bad thing to see we're still perpetuating our Gas guzzling horsepower craze. Nothing like following the mindless drivel of the american public.

Congratulations on being able to finance it though, I guess. At least we're still pumping money into the economy.

I believe it'll get less than 14mpg on the highway. My uncle's Dodge pickup with the 5.9 magnum engine gets 9 to 11 mpg on the highway...

I've never liked the look of Dodge trucks either, more of a chevy man myself.

But hey, at least you got something you like so it's all good

The 5.9 was a gas hog and doesn't compare to the hemi.

COngrats OP! I'd love to buy a Dakota with the high output 4.7 or a Ram with a hemi. I just towed my boat 1400 miles last week with my Dakota with a 3.9 and I need a bigger engine. Thank god for downward sloping entrance ramps.

They are going to put the MDS system found on the 300c and clones into the trucks here soon. That should help a bit with fuel mileage but that won't help yours.

i get 14-15 mpg in town with my Hemi Ram, 17-18 mpg highway.

btw, I love it. Besides the great motor, it handles well and has a good ride for a 4wd.

That's insufficient... it still pollutes. You must sell all your vehicles and buy your family POGO STICKS to get around!
