not sure how reliable some speed tests are, but when i had my cingular 8525, the test site said i was getting ~900kbits/second. this was at a friends house -- he was on wireless on his laptop and got ~500kbits/sec on the same site.

numbers aside, it's noticeably faster. unfortunately, the 3g coverage map is still a bit spotty =/.
