Yay to Gamestop trade-ins

I had a wii that I never used and have been really wanting a blu-ray player lately. I put my wii on ebay, with the balance board and whatever games, and was only getting around $190 for it with a day to go.

Instead, I gathered everything up and drove to Gamestop - I traded in my games and the system and ended up getting a PS3 plus the bluray remote for $40 out of pocket!

The trick was signing up for their silly club and also brining whatever extra cables in - I had old xbox cables and, with the extra % I got for signing up for the club, I ended up getting $23 credit just for the cables I never use!

Do it!

You traded in a Wii, with accessories + games + extra stuff and STILL had to pay $40 out of pocket for a PS3?

EDIT: Wait. That probably wasn't so bad. I forgot a PS3 is still $400...lol

Yep, I'm not a heavy gamer so it wasn't like 40 games - it was the wii, wii fit, 3 games, and 5 spare cables (some not even wii related, they took an old Xbox 360 cable).

The thing is that the wii market has crashed - you can easily get a wii from ebay for $150, so my auction was going no where.. They gave me $340 credit on the stuff, plus discounts on the ps3 + remote. not bad at all. $47.50, tax included... Not bad at all

Damn, only thing is that I wish the jrpg's would start showing up on the PS3 soon. Who would have thought that the 360 would be an JRPG'ers dream so far. 🙂

I did a deal like that for a DSi. I traded my Wii and a copy of Zelda in and got the DSi and a dollar back...

That week they were running a 'get an extra $25 on a nex gen trade-in," so it worked out well for me...

That's correct - they gave me an extra $25 for trading in 4 wii games.

Did you try craigslist?

I have a Nintendo Wii + 4 games + guitar hero + 2 Wiimotes + 2 Nunchucks + classic controller + Component Cables and I think I've got an offer for $375 (we'll see if the kid comes and picks it up tommorrow)

I also got a brand new PS3 from Dell.com for $170 last year and Street Fighter 4 is the only thing I'm playing now a days.

So was it the good version of ps3 that is backwards compatible or the crappy version?

Also size of hard drive?
