Aruba is too dry, it was probably one of my least favorite islands in the carribean. Given the opportunity I would love to go to Barbados for a week, I think I enjoyed that island more than any other.

not much to do besides gamble and enjoy the beaches.

Try to take a day trip if you can and see the island - pretty cool.

I think the woman has a few day trips she'd like to do. Butterfly farm, natural bridge, etc...

you can do all those in one day - natural bridge is just a big rock formation...nothing too special.

a full day tour should touch all of the local spots.

Well, she's the one that has the Frommers guide and the AAA Tourbook. Those are the only things she's mentioned to me recently. :)

if you know how to ride a motorcycle, i'd suggest renting a motocross bike and touring the dunes via that. there is a trail that goes past the natural bridge and some lighthouses. it can all be done in a day like spidey said.

if you want you can also rent harleys. but they require a reservation.

lighthouse
bike we rented
natural bridge
natural bridge 2
church along the ride

EDIT: we rented from a place called George's i think. it was about 0.5 miles from where our cruise ship docked.

Nice pictures. I'll look into something like that.

congrats ... I was just looking at my vehicle loan today figuring out when it's going to be paid off. $4800 to go after this months' payment. getting low.

I went to Aruba last fall and I don't know if it was just me or not, but does the food service absolutely STINK out there? It would take 20 minutes for a server to talk to us, another 45 minutes for the food to arrive, then another 30 minutes to get the check. After all said and done, I was looking at 2 hours per meal. I went to serveral restaurants in the low rise hotel area and in downtown, and it was the same situation everywhere.

I will say the beach there is incredible, we stayed at the Manchebo Resort on Eagle Beach and it was perfect, wide swaths of powder sugar sand and turquoise water. But that was before the hurricane passed 50 miles north of us...
