now, i can overclock my pentium D all the way up to 4.1Ghz...im swapping that cpu with the xeon.

specs:

intel xeon 3060 2.4Ghz
ac freezer 7 pro
asus p5w dh deluxe (bios 2004)
2x1GB g.skill ddr2-800 ram (4-4-4-12) - excellent pair
enermax liberty 500W

do you think i can push it past 3Ghz? im hoping for 3.2Ghz and over...

If you can push the FSB/RAM far enough the only other limitations will be the processor?s heat output and voltage requirements.

Shouldn't have a problem hitting 3-3.2ghz, although I couldn't get either my E6600 or Q6600 to stay stable at 3.2ghz on my P5W-DH. Apparently the memory strap doesn't switch to 1333 until 400mhz FSB, and lowering the multiplier to 8x or 7x doesn't seem to actualy work right, but 6x does, I'm also using the 2004 bios, and I've tried everything in between.

Didn't know P5W-DH had an option for 1333 strap? It used to be 1066 strap all the way to ~450FSB. (last year)

Hmm, maybe it doesn't, I thought I read somewhere that it did, but didn't kick in until over 400mhz FSB..either way, I can't get much higher than 350mhz FSB on the board without it failing to boot, no matter what I do with it.

im at 333fsb now (3Ghz). rock solid stable with no increase to voltage...i left everything at auto except for the ram speed and memory voltage (2.0v).

doing some more testing later today...

hmm, looks like ill probably have to increase the vcore to about 1.35-1.40v. those are safe voltages for a c2d/xeon, right?

holy crap.....im at 400FSB stable = 3.6Ghz! my vcore is 1.40v and ive tested out all these games/ran pcmark06. what other benchmarks do you guys run...?

Orthos (small FFTs or Blend test) for 8 hours or more is the mark I use. Text

alrighty...running benchmarks now. thanks a lot!

3.6GHz too! :) Just haven't had the time to do the Orthos thing. Plus, 3.2GHz 24/7 is pretty nice. Been running at this speed since last year.

I've got the weirdest E6600 that clocks to 3.70GHz @1.39V (and 3.60GHz load @1.32V!!) but can't make it to 3.80GHz stable with no matter what voltage.

Edit: Well, it's not totally true because I didn't give more than 1.52V but this CPU heats up like mofo past 1.45V.

OP: You've got yourself one of the sweetest E6600.. err.. Xeon3060. Congrats.

haha why thank you! im very lucky....i dont think its got more to give, cause i went to 410FSB and it didnt boot up, even at 1.50v and more volts to the north/southbridge.

well, my "hyperclock" from 2.4Ghz to 3.6Ghz is WAY more than i expected/ever imagined.
