yay installed Opera

I downloaded it but haven't installed it yet. Is the install program really only 3.66 megs or does it download more during install?

ill give 8 another shot when i build my new comp at the end of the week

brilliant move by Opera... they are making us think that we're getting such a nice deal that we must try it out. And to think web browsers were free. 😀

There has to be a catch to this.

No, there isn't.
The fact that you are using their browser (for free) and spreading the word has a high marketing value.

Opera: after 1 day of playing...

1) no ctrl-enter for URL completion
2) no find-as-you-type
3) some tables are wacked
4) no warning prompt if you're closing the browser but still have tabs open (this saved me tons of times in FF with tabs)

🙁 someone tell me there's a fix for these in Opera.

hey. i just installed last night, and did a bit of OTing in Opera. Overall i'd have to say the browser has a nice quick feel to it - seems to operate smoothly. i like how the images loading are listed in a ##/## format so you know what you're waiting for sometimes when a page loads. i didn't try any technical features of the browser, but for the time being i will probably stick to Opera and see how it goes.

props to the poster in Hot Deals as well - thank you.

Check the options\preferences, 2 and 4 are covered in there.

i agree 1) is annoying, but temporary fix is to not press ctrl-enter at all, but just press enter...for example, if you want to visit cnn, just type 'cnn' and press enter. it will automatically append it with 'www' and 'com'
