Intern -> Graduate -> work.

Not sure what he does, but there are companies that do this and it is legit. In fields like nursing, they will even pick up that tab of school for a contract to work when school is complete (better complete and pass or some serious issues to resolve).

Happens a lot in the tech industries too. I knew people who already had jobs lined post graduation after they did their first summer internship, granted that's really rare. Most people I know got a job offer at the start of the semester before they graduated.
