Yay! Cindy is running!

Sheehan announces independent run against Pelosi

Some delectable quotes...

"I dedicate my candidacy to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan," Sheehan said, weeping.

We have to get back to honoring our Constitution and honoring our men and women who fight these wars for the corporate elite."

CNN then asked Sheehan about her statement in May that she was leaving the anti-war movement. She responded that she had always planned to return in some capacity, but "the thing that brought me back into this faster than I wanted to was when George Bush commutted Scooter Libby's sentence, which I think is treason, and the Democrats didn't do anything about it."

Oh it would be a riot to see her elected  Let's put a real face on the looney left that happens to be one of the winds that blows the democrat party...

She might want to take "The US Constitution 101" first...

Why post this other than to bash her?

She obviously has been manipulated beyond belief by sycophants around her and is still obviously grieving. This has caused her to be pretty much a basketcase, which is how my mother was for 6 years after my sisters death and is just now finally emerging from.

We can safely ignore her hopefully she can pick up the pieces and go on with her life without further embarrassment on the public stage.

I'm going to be 55 faily soon and I have yet to lose anybody really, really close to me...... it's only a matter of time though. I hope your mother continues her recovery from her grief.

I do find it a bit more then just ironic that the same people who were calling Cindy nothing but an attention whore when she was camping out at Crawford are now more then happy to give her their attention.

Meh, really this is as important a news piece as a press release stating that dmcowen674 is running for President.

The only odd bit of amusement I extracted from this was the fact that she first stated (to paraphrase) that her son's life wasn't worth the lives of Iraqis, yet her apparently contradictory statement now?

I was supposed to be on the Larry King Live show last week. I was asked to be on the show to offer my opinion on the election in Iraq from the perspective of a mom whose son was killed in the war prior to the elections. One of the questions I was going to be asked was: Do I think my son's sacrifice was "worth it?"

I would have asked Mr. King if he would want to sacrifice one of his children for sham elections in Iraq. Would he or George Bush send their children to be killed, or maimed for life, for a series of lies, mistakes and miscalculations? Now that every lie has been exposed to the light for the invasion and occupation of Iraq ? why are our sons and daughters still there? NOT ONE MORE DROP OF BLOOD SHOULD BE SPILLED FOR THIS PACK OF LIES.

In the interest of being "fair and balanced" (oops, wrong network), I would have been pitted against a parent who still agrees with the "Mission" and the President. Although I grieve for that parent's loss and I respect that parent's opinion, I would have defied Mr. King, or that parent to explain the "Mission" to me. I don't think anyone can do it with a straight face. The President has also stated that we need to keep our troops in Iraq to honor our sacrifices by completing this elusive and ever changing "Mission." My response to him is "Just because it is too late for Casey and the Sheehan family, why would we want another innocent life taken, in the name of this chameleon of a 'Mission'?

Cheers to her for breaking her leash. Yes I said leash. She no longer feeds from the machine's slop bucket. Instead she is showing true conviction.

Yes she can be a bit of a loon, but she is far better than many already in office.

It never occurs to us that Sheehan has a point? Even if her candidacy is at best a losing effort, it does make a symbolic point. And if the political mood of this country ever shifts enough to permit Sheehan to win the democratic nomination over Pelosi, Sheehan will probably win the general election by a landslide. And that same mood swing could result in a 435-0 sweep of the house by democrats---and result in a 71-29 split in the senate in favor of democrats.

Maybe some of you Republirats should be thinking oh my God, if Sheehan wins we are in a heap of trobs.

And also, what happens when GWB instead of God is your co-pilot.---that alone is enough to make brave men pee their pants.

She should run for president, we've got her VP, Secretary of State, and Secretary of Peace volunteers already in this thread!

Just keep supporting Dubya and ridiculing everyone who disagrees. Everything will be just fine.

Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what the "Republirats" here are thinking. They're just terrified of the possibility.

Repubs shaking with fear, or Pelosi laughing hysterically?

I think it's the latter.

I typically just ridicule idiots like you. I respect those who thoughtfully disagree and debate. Obviously you don't post in P&N much, as I rarely - strike that - never "support dubya", and in fact always post based on my opinion of the topic/position rather than the man or the party.

She's just found her new minister of (dis)information!

Exactly. I wonder if her dead son is still a hero who was fighting to liberate Iraq, or if they feel differently about him now.

You're right, I don't post here much. You are a perfect example of why. You mock the mother of a dead soldier, ridicule all of those who share her disgust at this war, and then call ME an idiot.

God help you.

Cindy Sheehan stopped being a mother of a dead soldier and instead became a politician and public figure. She has opened her completely insane politcal viewpoints to the world, she's open for rebuke, just like anyone else in the public spotlight. Having a relative die in the war doesn't give you political amnesty. That's as stupid as the right saying "you can't criticize the war because it's unpatriotic".

Flying Spaghetti Monster help you.

How come she's allowed to attack people she doesn't agree with politically, but they're not allowed to say that she's gone nutty? How long does the "my son died" free pass last?

I think it's pretty obvious that her grief went to her head a little, and since then she's fallen in love with being a celebrity. Beats sitting at home and realizing there's nothing she can do about things, I guess. But it hardly puts her above criticism, especially if you take the viewpoint that she's preaching from on top of her son's coffin.

I haven't read anything here criticizing her views or justifying the "nutty" label. All I've seen is mocking. And I find it disgusting (though not unexpected) that some of the same people who would have been referring to how great her son's sacrifice was, blah blah blah, are now ridiculing the woman.

Yah, like maybe the very first post of this thread?

Let's see - I criticised the following:

- That she was dedicating her candidacy not only to the people of Iraq, but of afghanistan! Only the most rabid lefties think afghanistant wasn't justified
- That she mentions honoring the constitution, then later speaks of how a pardon is an "act of treason", which of course is a executive constitutional power that CANNOT be revoked or reviewed by any other branch of government!

Guess those aren't her views though huh?

Rio Rebel,

While I somewhat see your point, she is NOW a politition registered and running for office. I don't think anyone is mocking her because of her loss, rather she's now a polititons with what some see a loony views.

Mocking polititions is standard fare around here.

I don't know if Nancy's laughing that hard ... there are enough loons in California / that district that Cindy could divert votes sufficient to send Nancy back to the farm.

I'll send Cindy some money, it might be cool to watch.

Isn't it funny how that works? As I stated earlier, the only time I ever got my "daily dose" of CS was from the right wingers here posting about how her 15 minutes were over.

Are mothers of dead soldiers suddenly immune to criticism and mockery if they are running for office?
