also ordered a seagate barracuda ataIV.... if you register at storagereview.com and inthe "members" section or whatever they have a list of harddrives and how much noise they made... can't believe this 7200rpm drive is quieter than the 5400rpm maxtors :/
Also, whats the best way to make a harddrive quieter, and keep it cool?
The silentdrive isn't for me, my harddrives are allprobably too hot for it, and even if they weren't, i don't want them to be running 50C.
I saw this at overclockers.com, it looks like a pretty cool idea. Anyone else try something like this? Or anyone have any idea where to get 2 piecees of alluminum for it? I looked on onlinemetals.com or whatever and it cost $55 i think for a 1/2 think piece. Any cheaper ideas? Can't really afford that right now.
Also I remember that review of that product that fit in a5.25 bay and had the rubberbands supporting the harddrive to eliminate vibrations from being transfered to the case. Does that actually make any difference?
Any other ideas? I'm looking more for quieting a harddrive, keeping it sorta cool (ie not 50C).
