goin to gf's house for christmas dinner and bought a bottle of red wine. I was looking around in the liquor store and had a Merlot picked out (Turning Leaf - I've only had experience with California wines so far and they havent disappointed)

I have tried the Turning Leaf Merlot but decided to ask one of the people working there how this one is compared to others and if there is anything better in my price range. Told him I want something that we can have with dinner and something thats not too dry. He recommended I get a Pinot Noir since thats a lighter wine than the Merlot and it will be less dry.

Originally he recommended a Napa Valley Pinot Noir but that only came in the 750 mL bottles and I need something bigger. Well the only 1.5L Pinot Noir they had was TALUS Pinot Noir.

So how is this wine? anyone know? Its a Talus 2002 Pinot Noir. Anyone know of any good wineries? my price range is $15-20 for a 1.5L bottle (both Talus and Turning Leaf were $12.99 for a 1.5L)

Well, I don't know about Talus, but I've always had good luck with Chilean, Australian and New Zealand reds. They fit right into your price range and are usually quite smooth.
