YaWoWT: ZG, How far have you gotten?

Well last night we killed 5 bosses up to and including the Tiger boss, ending around 2a.m. Loot is decent, we got a blue ring that is almost as good as heavy dark iron ring from MC. Pretty decent stuff but I am wondering what Hakkar might drop when we take him down tonight. I am 6/8 cenarion and 2/8 Stormrage so I can only hope for a trinket/neck/ring.

Best epic that dropped besides the quest epics needed were some cloth boots that were
12sta
12int
8spir
passive: 30 to dmg/healing

from what I remember.

So if you have dropped Hakkar please try and list anything worth while. Or if you got an epic that you think is on par with MC/BWL please list its stats. Allakazam and thottbot are slacking.

the quests for Zul G have some nice loot, but those coins are going to take a while to collect

How did you take out the priest with the snakes? We had a PUG that didn't do too badly, but we couldn't beat him....

I really like the area - cool music on that little island where the quests are, good variety, and outdoor instances make a druid much more powerfull due to thorns, and many of those snakes/raptors can be put to sleep rather easily

We went in with 20 guildy's that are all geared with epics. We had 5 mages that aoe'ed the 4 snakes. A lot of the boss fights are just using hunters and warlocks to drain mana. If you can only go here in a pug, make sure you all can get on vent or what not. I really don't see how a PuG without vent can get past the spider boss. Maybe when the strategies are public knowledge. The tiger fight was my favorite encounter. We attempted the panther boss only once to see what we needed to do for a strategy. But at that point everyone was tired and had to get up early.

It's not so much the coins and bijou's that are the problem. Those can be easily bought off the AH when prices even out. It's getting your epic piece to the quest, which no one in our raid needed any of them. I'm mainly having fun with it and trying to get my rep up for the recipes. Loot i'll take if it is a decent upgrade.

The Knights of Nef are going this Saturday for our first time. I know one member was playing the instance on the test server before the patch. I'll post an update Sunday once after we get through it or are hats handed to us.

the epic hunter quest item is crap...the stats are good (quite good actually), but +16 damage to arcane shot? what a bunch of baloney! not good enough to replace my BS gear unfortuantly 🙁

still, i did get the epic piece for it already.....so i can't complain to much....we got toasted at the spiderboss.....took the bat lady and the snake dude no problem....just be sure to pull the snakeboss back up the stairs so that he only bombs the tank and not the party

Spider boss strategy isn't straight forward. You need 2 tanks on her and a tank with the main party. Have druids and paladins remove poison's immediately from the whole raid.

MT and another tank get on her as the rest of your raid forms a ball with another tank. She will net the tanks on her and go to the ones not netted where the tank in the ball will taunt her and gain agro while the MT out of the ball gets a Blessing of freedom or what not. She has an AoE poison.

Its a good strategy for alliance, I don't know what horde will do. We took her down our second attempt. Tiger boss we got down on our third attempt, he is a toughy.

Tiger boss - Take down the two tigers with her first. 1 tank tanks her, 1 tank tanks a zealot, 1 tank tanks the other zealot.
She has an aoe silence of about 20yards.
Bring a zealot down to 25%, switch to the second zealot bring him down to 25%, switch to her bring her down to 25%, and then AOE.
Make sure you tank them close to each other like a triangle.
This will spawn a Tony the Tiger looking boss.
He has an aoe knock back and constantly spawns non-elite 60tigers, 2 at a time.
Let the MT take him off to the side and start gaining agro.
The 2 other tanks with you will tank a spawned tiger so they aren't running around.
Priority is to take down the adds first and then return dps back onto him.

Note:
Mana regen is key here, put on your mana tick gear.

too busy in ... ab.... rawr... 😉

also : getting my +190 healing trinket on my priest and my +150 attack power/2%hit on my hunter

then gotta start working on their epic quests ><

thx for the tips Glavinsolo....we wasted last night trying our best to kill her....never did 🙁

but i'll be sure to give them your advice, it looks solid to me.

oh yea, and last night was my first night ever using Teamspeak with WoW....man, some of these people dont know when to shut up.....I swear Teamspeak added a good hour or so of just standing around talking....so very boring when you keep hearing the same thing over and over and over...

My guild farms MC up to Rags and have some classes almost completely decked out in epics (druids) while others who we have more people in (my class - shaman) maybe only have several epics. We went last night for the first time in 2 separate groups. The guild leaders seemed to be all in one, while my group had mostly the regular grunts. My group did have better healing with 4 priests, 2 druids and 3 shaman. I think we expected we would own the place and with none of the regular leaders to guide us, we didn't really run much of a strategy but were just powering through everything. This caused us to wipe on the first couple bosses. We finally started to work together and do things like we should and killed the bat and snake bosses. I think we bypassed the spider boss and went to the raptor. Maybe someone can confirm it. It was a boss who was at the top of a pyramid. He came after killing a "speaker' at the bottom. You had to fight both he and his mount. The place had many raptor pull around it which is why I thought this was the raptor area. Anyway, we accidentally pulled the speaker the first time and killed him first before the rest of the pulls, so we ended up with the boss, his mount and about 4 other trolls. We wiped. It took awhile since wraiths will float around and ressurect people with full health and mana. However the boss gets stronger with every death (if anyone can confirm this, it would be appreciated. We had some dissagreement in our group as to whether the boss got stronger with every death, or with every ressurection). The 2nd time we faced him, we only got him and his mount. We decided to kill the mount first. Mistake. The mount just ressurects, so he is like Golemag in that you need to tank his add and just kill the boss first. We ended up wiping again when he got powerful enough that he was one hitting tanks even though we got him to 30%. It was late and we quit. We think we will take him next time since we will just concentrate on him. Any other strategies on this guy?

I haven't been following the test server forums so I really know little about Zul'Gurub. I do have one question about the quest set items. Basically, do all classes need the same epic quest item for each piece. There was one that dropped for one of my pieces that a rogue got. I had assumed that the piece was different for different classes, that the cloth wearers all needed the same quest item, but it was different from the leather, etc. Any insight would be appreciated.

So we killed Hakkar....

Here is the Strategy:

Every Hakkar Attempt should take ~10-13mins. That means we will go through 26 or so sons.

Hakkar's Abilities:

Corrupted Blood - Only people near hakkar will get this. So it should be the MT only and the peon who will be forced into being MC by hakkar.
Solution: Don't get near MT, or hakkar for that matter, its a very low dmg dot, but gets out of control if more than one person has it, due to stacking.

Mind Control - The nearest person to hakkar save the tank will be MC'ed.
Solution: We send an undergeared MELEE person up to hakkar without any weapons on him. Since he will be the closest to hakkar he will be MC'ed. When MC'ed frost nova and keep him away from us killing sons and healing and range dps'ing hakkar.

Life Drain - Every few seconds, Hakkar will Life drain everyone in the raid, if we have the poison from the sons it will cause a debuff, if we don't have poison he will get healed from it.
Solution: Everyone needs to be poisoned except for the tank.

Slow - Every few seconds Hakkar will cast slow on the raid. This affects casting speed and movement.
Solution: Decursive program to dispell it.

So here is the new strategy, much like the old strategy:

-After clearing to the platform and everyone has mana, we pull and sheep the sons on the sides.
-We break one sheep and kill the son, and we all get the poison.
-We wait till the MT has 45secs left on his poison before engaging.
Note: The spawns of sons are on a 1min timer. This will sync the spawn rate with Hakkar's life drain. One of the reasons why we were failing.
-We will have 1 puller, and 1 puller only. It will be a hunter. He will not pull from up top, he needs to use aspect of the cheetah to run and pull a son from the sides. Life drain still hits him, so no worries about that.
-19people will get poisoned and the MT will not be poisoned.
-MT needs to turn Hakkar towards the altar.
-Everyone stands in a ball on the platform.
-Only ranged dps goes nuts on him during the encounter.
-Healers, mana conservation is crucial, so if you are not the MT you should be bandaging yourself. However no one should be taking dmg besides from the sons or the poison from the sons.
-MT dies and we wipe, Corrupted Blood will wipe us alone.
-PULLER: Your job is more important than anyone's. If you have slow on you, a paladin/priest needs to dispell you immediately. You simply go from side to side pulling the sons. You go right, pull a son, we kill it on the platform, get poisoned, then you run to the left. And so on.
-In every successful Hakkar attempted we should miss the poison about 2-3times. So don't get discouraged on vent. Its very simple if everyone stays calm.
-Mind Controlled Person: Just frost nova his ass, and rogues can keep stunning him or what not.

We took down the Bat and Snake Bosses on our first run and got to the Spider boss on our second run but failed to take her down. We are going again this weekend with another guild so was are hoping to get to Hakkar Sunday.

Thanks for the pointers Glavinsolo.

Yeah, I'll Refine the Spider strategy.

Before you engage, clear surrounding spiders. We like to pull the speaker and kill him first and then we run down the hill and that restarts the encounter.

Poison: The high priest has an AOE poison that is 30-35yards.
Solution: Ranged DPS and healers stay at max range from MT at all times.

Net: When in spider form she will net all melee that are on her and go running toward the ball of ranged.
Solution: Keep a well geared tank in the ball of Ranged people to taunt the spider and walk it back to where the MT is tanking. We use Blessing of Freedom on the MT as well.

Spiders: From time to time she will spawn 2 spiders that get bigger and elite if they aren't killed quickly.
Solution: Frost Nova, AE, kill them quickly inside the ball of ranged.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tiger: This guy is cake when you use the territory provided, let me explain the best I can.

Clear the tigers surrounding him first.
You need 3 Tanks minimum.
Before you pull make sure all healers and casters have mana regen gear on them. This fight is very healing intensive.

2 tanks will tank the zealots and the MT will tank the priest.
Back the priest up she has an aoe silence
Mana burn the priest, hunter sting and warlock.
If you have 4 tanks, put 2 on the rogue, he stuns and will be roaming around free.
Bring the rogue down to 30%.
Switch to the Shaman.
Shield bash and kick the shaman zealot so he doesn't heal.
Bring the shaman down to 20%.
Switch to the Priest.
Bring the priest down to 10%.
AoE them down to 0%.

Incoming tiger badass.

Positioning: The area where this boss is is set up like a triangle. /
The tank should be here /'
Everyone else here '
There is some green bamboo looking stuff.
Everyone needs to stand with their backs against it and just within healing range of the MT.

Execution:
NO MELEE DPS ON HIM AT ALL.
Can't stress that enough.

Everyone needs to stand together against the bamboo. Reason? He does a knockback and if you are against the bamboo you won't be knocked back. You will take damage but you can get back to healing immediately.

Stomp: Every few secs the tiger will jump up and knockback everyone distant away from him and he will stun the MT. This will inflict around 800-1000dmg to everyone.
Solution: The tank must aticipate the bash, and taunt before he completes the bash. Stop attacking for 3secs and bandage let the healers heal MT.

Tigers: Every few secs he will spawn 2 tigers.
Solution: The 2 tanks in the groups should each taunt one and have the MELEE DPS only attack them and kill them. Ranged DPS needs to keep up the dps on him.

Charge: If someone is close to him besides the MT he will charge you.
Solution: Stand in the group with everyone else by the bamboo.

We're on hexxer and having a lot of trouble with him. Tiger boss presented difficulty mostly due to the zealot that heals himself.

I really liked the raptor boss. I don't know what you are talking about when killing the raptor first. We did that and had no issues. Yes, he levels up every few times he kills one of you and gets bigger. Our 2nd try (first try we accidentally pulled him) we got him with no deaths. Seems easier than the spider and tiger, but that might be because my guild regularly takes down kazzak and as such is used to the whole "don't die" strategy.

As for hexxer, there is an ongoing argument about how to deal with the invisible shades. Any suggestions? I think we need to kill them ASAP.

Torpid, we havn't killed him yet. However he has some really good loot. As you might know he gives 1 person the ability to see them. That person needs to go and kill them as soon as he gets it. They have very low HP. I have heard from other guilds that if you put a hunter's pet on aggresive they can see them without the buff and kill the shades no problem, but see this could be considered an exploit.

We have killed the following:
Spider
Raptor - Bloodlord
Snake
Bat
Tiger
Panther
Gahz'ranka - Summoned Boss
Hakkar

We havn't had the courage to spawn any of the tablet bosses and people in our guild like to skip hexxer and not attempt him because I don't have any strategies yet. However, they don't freaking understand that we need to attempt him more for me to get a strategy. They just know that you don't need to kill hexxer to kill hakkar.
