YAWOWT: Your feelings of the WoW trade channels

I personally believe that they are more trouble than they are worth. People make comments that clog up the trade channel rather than actually perform trading. One reason i do not do enchanting on my new characters.

example....

/2 mid lvl enchanter for hire.

someone whispers (person 1) me, "can you make my weapon glow?"
another person (2) says over trade channel, "can you make me sword glow?"
another person (3)whispers me, "can you make it glow?"
another person (4)whispers me, "can you make bow glow?"
another person (5)whispers me, "give glow plz"

I respond to all of them with a whisper, "I can make any melee weapon glow red for the price of 50S"
Person 1, "WoW"
person 2 says over the trade channel, "No thanks, wayyyyyyyyy tooo high"
person 3, "I have a friend that does it for 35S"
person 4, "Ok, can you make a gun glow?"
person 5, "my guildy does it for free"

I respond the following ways:
I give not response to person 1 or 2
I tell person 3 to buy it from his friend
I tell person 4 that bows and guns are not melee weapons
i tell person 5 to get his guildy to do it

Person 3 responds, "He is not online right now"
person 4 says, "What? I will find it way glow someone else, bye"
person 5 responds, "He does not have the mats"

I do not respond to any of them after that, then person 3 says, "No reason to be a bitch about it, 30S is a FAIR price to both of us"

I tell person 3, "only i am losing money on it, i can sell the mats for more money than that at the AH"

person 3 responds, "all you enchanters are all f**** theives"

Person 3 gets added to /ignore, the best feature blizzard ever put in the game.

But after all is said and done, i sell about 7 enchants to other people in less than 15 minutes at the price of 50S.

i wish there was a way to reliably sell chants
like in the AH, a secondary peice or something, instead of spamming the trade channel every 5 min
and why can't you sell your disenchanted items? not even to a enchanter thingy person..

that'd be cool... chanters could make scrolls or something, then the scrolls could be used to enchant a weapon (like armor kits).

to the OP... I've only used them when I've had to (ie: I'm in the middle of stv, want something, and don't feel like flying all the way back to the AH for it). the only time I've ever used the trade channel in IF has been when I need a lock opened (in which case, I get 20 responses from rogues who are lower level than me, and it's like, "wtf. if I can't open the box as a level 40 rogue, you're probably not going to be able to open it at level 20) or if I want/need something that's not for sale in the AH itself (pages for The Greenhills of Strangethorn, for examply, kept me spamming the trade channel for a couple days).

I only use trade channels when I need something very specific, like opening a lock box or enchantments. I also use it sparingly to offer archanite transmutations.

That idea of having 'scrolls' with the enchantments is nice. Enchanting is by far the 'hardcore' profession in WoW and something like that could perhaps make it more accesible.

The only thing I occasionaly use the trade channel for is if I need some quick repairs or something so I'll sell a stack of thorium and call it a day.

Level your enchanting to 300 and get the high end recipies, and advertise all your enchants + their price in your trade channel spam. "Enchanting crusader xxG, icy chill xxG, +9 int xxG." etc. As long as your prices are in line with the norm you will get people to buy. I never bothered with the low crap because it just wasn't worth it to have to deal with the "weapon glow plz" noobs, just grind your way up to 300.

Much like the AFK Bazaar in FFXI, there could be some sort of option that turns your character into an interactive NPC whereby you have certain amounts of materials on you and you advertise certain 'services' for a certain price.

A Buyer could place his item in a special on-screen box, select the service he wants then the materials are used, money transferred et voila.

In FFXI, players can set prices for items and basically leave their characters overnight in a town and reap the rewards in the morning. I think my solution sounds pretty good despite being braindead from revising and having never had any intention of picking a WoW cd.

The main problem I have with the trade channel is that some people decide to use other channels than trade for advertising.

A common practice for me is to only join the trade channel if I am actively looking for something or selling something. Because of this some people decided to use general or even the highinstance or lfg channels to sell the stuff.

Now I understand if someone is new to the game and uses the general channel, but when I see....
/highinstance Selling ICY enchants psw
You are promptly on my /ignore list.

For the orignal poster, would list price up front in the trade channel. Even seen some traders also add the comment "(firm)" to weed out people haggling on prices.

I watch the trade channel for people WTB items that I can make. I spend very litle time with these people if they don't want to pay my prices, which are based on current AH buyouts for the same item. If they don't want to pay my price I tell them good luck and have a nice day.

I put most of my items on the AH for a reasonable buyout price and they almost always sell.

My ignore list is full and blizzard won't let me put more people on it.

tried that. They just say the same thing over the trade channels that they say in the whispers, so i try to keep trade channel pollution minimal.
