I had just received my first piece of tier 5 gear from Fel Reaver and saw I was on top of the DPS chart and realized i wasn't having fun. I would rush home form work just to make sure I got into the raid and then would sit there for hours killing the same stuff over and over (like most MMO's). Well as of now my warlock is no longer in commission and is officially retired.

Just thought I would share :)

LOL even that wouldn't be perm. I'll most likely give my toons to my sister and brother in law who still play and them them have their way with em. I really have no desire to play.

 So what are you going to do with all of that free time, other than Akhen's suggestion?

I did the same thing last winter. I had full t2 and was working on my t3. Then they released the patch that changed the way honor worked. I played for 2 weeks after that and realized I wasn't having fun (and hadn't been for months). Sad thing is, I had had the game for a little more than a year (13 mo) and had logged 114 days played. So I logged off, and canceled my account and never logged in again after that even though I had 5 months of credit left on my account.

It's not all bad, I had a lot of good memories from pvping with friends. Me (a hunter), 2 ex high warlords from when it was actually hard to get (shammy with hand o rag and warrior) and my roommate (priest) would just roam around silithus and BRM killing everything and everyone for hours. I have a video of me and the shammy killing 5 people, but taking so long to do it (FUCK pallys) that the first dead started to rez when the last was killed. So we ended up killing all 5 of them twice and we managed to get out of there alive before they came back a third time. Puts a smile on my face to watch the clip. Great times, but in the end it was a complete waste of a year of my life.

Good for you on dropping the game.

At least you quit because of boredom.

The 95% of the other "I quit WoW" threads often have people quitting because they lack self discpline in their lives.

I'm doing strong i'd say. 2 weeks in and i'm level 20. It is a fun game nonetheless.

EDIT: My bro quit recently as well, He felt he had nothing else to do in the game. He is still waiting for the new exp. I tihnk he hit rank 77 in 5v5.

yeah i would never let it "control" me. Work and family came first all the time. If i couldn't make a raid yeah it sucked but I didn't sit off the game shaking wishing I was playing instead. They are increasing the levels again and bringing out new content and yes while it was fun for me for a while i've seen the end game enough and just got bored. I would only log on to raid which was usually 3 days a week. Unfortunately the raids were usually Friday Saturday and Sunday (for the last 2 or so months) and thats when I said this sucks im done.

Congrats. I played that game for a few months and it is boring as all hell after several days. The only fun I really had was exploring new places when I was way below the level I was supposed to be.

Grats, I did the same. Got the epic flying mount, spellstrike/spellfire set, realized how much of a job this "game" was, and quit.

I guess i'm lucky.

I have an extremely short & simple attention span.

If it's even remotely RPGish, i can't even get into the game for more than maybe an hour before getting bored, if not sooner.

Yet i can play UT2k4 for hours on end.

the progress is slow, and i only have 3 pieces of t4s, i'll quite when i stop having fun again.
