OK, I totally played about 4 hours with my mage and I'm at level 8, is that about right?

That seems normal.

I think it usually takes about 8-10 days to hit lvl 40 and 16-20 days to hit 60. It gets much quicker when you have experience. My 3rd character is almost lvl 40 with about 5.5 days played.

OMG! How many hours a day do you play???

I've had it for two weeks and just hit L15. (Obviously, I can't play it as much as I'd like. :) )

That's freaking crazy! I've been playing for 3 months and I'm only level 45.

"5.5 days played" refers to cumulative 24-hour playtime (use the /played command in-game), not the number of real days it takes you to get to a given level.

~6 days 10 hours @ level 37 - It all really depends on what you do with the time you spend in game, and how much rested XP you have.

Took me ~4 hours to go from 35->36 and ~10 hours for 36->37...so it's really all how much BSing you do vs. Questing/Grinding.

Edit: Then again, this is my first character and first MMO, so I'm still really getting used to everything

Playing up to your mid 30's should go really fast. Will take longer if you spend more time doing trade skills and stuff.

Once you hit 40, it slows down quite a bit. Once you get over 50, it is really slow unless you play a lot and grind or do a lot of instance runs.

edit: fast for me isn't necessarily fast for you. I consider 1-30 really fast because it's so slow after 50...

after L40, it'll take you straight grind from 4-5 hrs of play solo. 300-600 mobs fought at same lvl per level. Rest bonus helps a ton.

Took me around 15-16 days to get to lvl 60. I know someone that did it in 9 days played.

A lot of it depends on the class you play. Hunters/Rogues can do quite well on their own.

I dont think so either, the last MMORPG I really played was UO, and even though it didnt have levels, some of those skills were a PITA to get up.

BTW, I have tried everquest, Anarchy online, and star wars galaxies, and this is the only one that I really, really liked since UO

20 days /played for level 60.

mid 30's through mid 40's I started to get bored, logged in and just sat around doing nothing for hours, etc. very, very unmotivated/lack of anything really to do. Helped out a lot of friends around this range. Gained interested when I got close to 40 (mount!) lost it quickly afterwards.

Levels 52 -> 60 I did in a week (about a level per real life day).

Its all about goals... wanted to get 53 for devilsaur gauntlets. Ground to 55 for devilsaur legs (Hippogriffs in azshara gave me a level in roughly 9-12 hours played). Straight questing from 55 -> 60. Straight. No grinding. Did all of western/eastern plaguelands/un'goro/felwood/burning steppes during this time. 59 -> 60 I did in a day as well ... Had saved all the winterspring quests for this level. 59 -> 60 were done SOLELY in winterspring. ~14 hours if I remember correctly. Possibly slightly less.

Unlike some of the people here, I found the post-50 levels to be the fastest ones besides the initial 1-20. Much, much faster than the mid 30's through mid 40's.

I'm on a pvp server as well so ... account for lots of raiding time/ganking time -_-

Edit: Didn't step into end-game instances until level 60. Bad idea for leveling ... raid groups = about 12xp per mob.

i just hit lvl 59 yesterday with my mage. time in game, 20days, 16 hrs, i play about 4-6 on weekdays and about 8-12 on weekends(not strait through though). i've spent a far amount of time BSing around. like PvPing, helping my low lvl guildies with quest or if they are having ganking probs with horde, or soloing SM for cash. lvl 1-20 took just 1 weekend to get. 20-40 took about like 3 weeks give or take. after that on average i think about 13-18hrs of game time per lvl after that. i know it took just under 17hrs 58 to 59. i get about 13-15k xp an hour and 19-21k xp with rested.
