Couple months ago, car-pool buddy who works for same company i do gave me his 21" Lcd monitor, b/c he wasnt using it.

Yesterday, a over hear a bunch of "OOOHHH" and "AAAAHHHHSSS", apparently some co-workers were geting 24" LCD MONITOR's. I thought nothing of it, because every once in a while leads/pm's get upgrades and it trickles down.

But after walking around, turns out EVERYONE, but one co-worker and I got a new monitor.
Now i understand it wasnt fair that i got a 21", and no one else did. But it wasnt like my manager gave me and only me one, i 'obtained' it legitemitly. Its basically like the "RAID" that goes on when a fellow co-worker leaves, first come first serve.

but now its starting to make me wonder, is this payback for my 21" or should i step-up and ask whats up?

You should STFU imo. You probably got a 21" lcd while everyone else had CRT's. They replaced the CRT's and you didn't get one.

Working in IT I find it HIGHLY annoying when I have to deal with upgrading monitors - I swear, 40 year old professionals turn into blubbering jealous 3rd graders whining to Mommy.

I concur, and well put.

WOW, ok, well thats one way to think about it.

First of all, we've started with 17" lcd's from the get go.

Second of all, point taken!

seriously. my mother works at her church and they wanted her to find a new pc to replace a dying one. so she got the going dell vostro/20" lcd and she shed just sell the lcd on ebay or to me or something because they couldnt get one for everyone, and its not worth the trouble of having people complain or gawk at it.

And I apologize for being harsh - I've had a pretty frustrating week dealing with very similar issues..

Most likely what happened was someone (IT) walked around and noted who had the older 17" lcd's. I seriously doubt it was any kind of 'payback' or anything..

I'd suggest getting your IT guy an xmas present. You'd be surprised how far something like that can go..
