I got into a car accident on Friday the 22nd, was going about 45 on a one lane highway, that people can make a left onto sidestreets from. A lady was making a left, and there was no turn lane so she was stopped in traffic. I did not see her until the last minute, probably hit her going about 35 and my airbags deployed. Let me tell you, those things pack one helluva punch. Everyone as okay, I just had a burn from the airbag and she had a slight headache. Anyways, I was really depressed/pissed just that I fvcked up that bad, and then I got to thinking...I really didn't like my car that much anyways. I bought my car for $3000 in March, and I was expecting $~2000 after my $500 deductable. They came out and gave an estimate, totalled as I expected. They want almost $800 for the salvage, and the estimated damage was $8000. Okay, the good news is the check is going to be for $3642 if I reinstall the stock stereo, $3767 if I leave my stereo in there, and $3592 with no stereo. I'm so stoked, now the only thing is the 4 point ticket and the possible insurance hike. I was paying $205 a month for full coverage on my old car. Oh, btw it was a 1994 Geo Prizm with ~115,000. Honestly, I really didn't like the car. It wasn't loud, it wasn't a POS really...just too "basic". No power steering, no tach, it was a manual, just very bare car in general. Things aren't as bad as I expected! I can even buy myself a digi cam now!

Edit: I can't (speel)

being the son of a car dealer, im honestly surprised that an insurance company would find your 1994 geo with 100k+ miles (even though its below avg for the year) worth 3 grand, i wouldnt have given a thousand bucks for it myself, being a 94 geo and all

Geos arent bad cars. My friend has a '91 prizm with 215k on it, and it runs fine.

Its not that they're bad cars, its just the Geo doesn't have as high a value as the same car branded Toyota, that's all.

Well, they did bump up the price $300 because it had new belts, fluids, etc... They noted it as excellent body, interior, and above average mechanical.

Also, I'm VERY suprised that I got this much...very grateful. The ironic thing is that I called the insurance company about a week before the accident and talked to them about dropping down the liability only :disgust:

I got in a car accident on Dec 1st, this past sunday. Five car pile up in upstate new york (apparently we werent the only ones who got in an accident on this highway that day either, there were pile ups all over the place)

Anyways, my 1990 lumina with 130k miles got pretty F'ed up. the whole front right side is smashed to peices. I got an estimate today which was like $5000... the car is definately totalled. i'm still talking it out with my shitty insurance company... with whom i have bare minimun coverage 🙁🙁🙁

That sucks, car accidents suck regardless. Was it your fault?
