It is not all vile stuff. I invite you to come by and sample some of my vegetarian chili. You must like it spicy though.

Edit - Next time you see the whiney vegechick smack her for me. I have been a vegetarian for 12 years and people like her give us normal vegetarians a bad name.

(Well, the veggie chili here is nasty at least.)
I'd prefer spicy meat chili - but as long as you're good with Dave's Insanity Sauce, it works fine either way. :)

Well, I'm too much of a gentleman to hit a lady. I'll just club her with a footlong hotdog. Acceptable compromise? :D

Mercenary

would you find my experience any less offensive than yours?

Whoa that sucks...glad that my friends never tricked me into eating meat. At least I think they didn't. :)

If I were in a situation like that I would just say

Hey b!tch! I don't push my morality or rules on you and I would appreciate if you didn't push yours on me! Why don't you take your weggie-crap with you and go harass someone who actually gives a flying fvck what you have to say? Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some meat to eat.

next time you see her just tell her how much you enjoyed your last steak it should send her into an absoulute fit ;)
also make sure to tell her you like it rare and paint a good mental picture about the redness of the meat and all that

Taunt, yes. Harass? Nowhere near as much as the vegetarians.

Meat-eater comments seem to be along "So where's your main course?" and "That's not food. That's what food eats."

Vegetarian comments are "YOU SICK BASTARD! YOU'RE RAPING MOTHER EARTH!", "I HOPE YOU GET COLON CANCER YOU FREAK!" and "EATING AN ANIMAL IS LIKE EATING A HUMAN!"

Same here. A friend of mine is vegetarian and he really gets layed into about it. Personally, I could care less if someone is/isn't vegetarian (I'm not).

Why don't vegeterians eat eggs and cheese?

They are not exactly vegeterians, they are called vegans. A stricter type of vegeterians. Vegans don't eat produces that are coming from animals including their milk. I have a bunch of friends who are vegeterians, they don't try to convert me. They just make fun of me when there's no animals left on earth for us to eat and we'll be starving. Then I just point at them and laugh because they will be our next meal.

When theres no animals left? eh? Worst argument ever.

Personally i eat meat all the time. I dont really care who is vegetarian, and i dont mind it when veggies or vegans try to convince me of anything. But I would never date a vegetarian, thats for sure!

And, I have absolutly no problem killing animals for food. If necessary, i could do it myself. The first few times would be "gross" cutting it up, etc. But i'd get used to it real quick.

Vegans think they're so above it all. "Meat is murder, dairy is rape!" What about those poor vegetables you stir-fry every night? :(

Salads are only for murderers
Coleslaw's a fascist regime
Don't think that they don't have feelings
Just cause a radish can't scream ...

Chances are that the girl in question ha drecently become a vegetarian, simply because it makes her "different". A lot of people are like that... girls in particular. (not to be sexist, but it's the truth in my experience)

And frankly, vegetarians get harassed more than meat eaters. Not hardly a day goes by where there isn't some thread started about something, which quickly turns into a "vegetarians suck, meat rules" thread. You get a few whackjob vegetarians, and everybody hates us right away, but there are plenty of people here who wouldn't miss a chance to insult a vegetarian. I don't care if you eat meat, stop trying to make me eat it too.

Do I attract stupid people or something? Am I somehow getting a giant "Come piss me off!" sticker slapped on my back every frickin' day?

Heading up to grab some lunch ... it's Friday, so the caf at work is serving chili. Nice, hearty, beefy, delicious chili. Awesome stuff. It's gone as soon as the first batch of students gets to it, so I head up early. Grab a bowl, and start loading up with meaty chili goodness - when next to me I just hear this disapproving/irritated/insulted explusion of air. You know, the kind those uppity people make when you offend their delicate beliefs.

I turn to look and there's this girl standing there, hands on hips, midway through lading up a bowl of vegetarian chili (yes, such foul stuff exists), just glaring at me like I've got "666" tattooed on my forehead. So naturally, I ask what the hell her problem is, and would she mind pissing off?

Out comes the veggie-rant, full force. Apparently, I'm killing myself by eating this chili, it's going to give me ulcers, and I'm a horrible human being who is Brutally Raping Mother Earth. Somehow I managed to keep myself from introducing her white hippie blouse to a bowlful of Campbell's.

I came to a compromise with myself, and settled for just telling her various things regarding animals which she should go do with them if she loves them so much.

After reading what she said, and reading how you reacted to it, my conclusion:

You're both immature idiots.

yeah seriously, I've had my share of vegan/vegetarian friends and I'm pretty sure on the average they get way more flak from me/other meat eaters than they give us. 'Freak' is a pretty typical comment.

I went out a couple times with a vegetarian once and whenever we had a to pick a place to eat and she couldn't eat at a lot of places and I'd be like 'ugh, we can't eat anywhere.' I mean I didn't have bad intentions, but it was kind of ignorant of me to give her a hard time about it.

It may become bad form to eat meat in the distant future but only if we can produce a man-made substitue that looks and tastes the same. Hey, if they can make I Can't Believe It's Not Butter anything is possible.

Either way animals will continue to die as their numbers will have to be managed. So the tenderhearted can look forward to many more years of tear shedding.
