So I'm expecting a package delivered by UPS today. I go to the site to track it, and see this entered:

"THE RECEIVER HAS MOVED. UPS ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE RECEIVER TO COMPLETE DELIVERY, NO DELIVERY WAS MADE;THE ADDRESS HAS BEEN CORRECTED. THE DELIVERY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED "

Well I haven't moved recently that I'm aware of, so I call to find out what the hell is going on. They tell me they "found out" I moved from the original delivery address, and routed to a new address. Well they read the original address, and it was my correct, current address. I asked them where the package was now going, and they read the address of a place I haven't worked in 9 months! WTF?? How did they even get that address? The place I bought it from doesn't have it, paypal which I payed with doesn't have it. I did used to get packages delivered there when I worked there, but that was a long time ago.

So, I asked if they could stop it before it gets delivered, and re-route it to the original, CORRECT address. The oh-so-helpful lady on the phone says "sorry sir, we can't change the address until delivery attempt has been made." I argued that according to their tracking, they had already done just that, to an address I haven't been at in 9 months! The lady would not do a thing for me.

So, I finally found the number my old manager at the place, and contacted her. Luckily the package had not been received yet. So I told her to refuse it, and tell them it needs to be sent to the original address, and to give them that address just in case. We'll see how bad UPS screws this up. Somehow I think this package will end up missing.

What I don't understand is, why the hell didn't they call me? They had my frigging phone number, but instead of contacting me, they took it upon themselves to route it to a different address. Ridiculous.

11/29/04: So, like I expected UPS screwed up yet AGAIN with this package. They tried to deliver it again today, to the correct address, and AGAIN they think I've moved! What the hell is wrong with these people? I'm waiting to talk to a supervisor now. It's been a week since this package was supposed to have been delivered. This time, I want a clerk or a supervisor to personally drive this package over to me tonight. This is getting ridiculous.

Do you really think UPS is going to contact each and every person for a package issue that comes up? UPS isn't that smart - not by a long shot.

Good luck getting your package, though. :)

I feel your pain. Stupid eBay seller shipped item to me via Fed Ex Ground. Small problem. Fed Ex Ground doesn't go to Alaska. I specifically told them it had to be 2 Day Air or Next Day Air if they used Fed Ex or UPS to Alaska, and they confirmed that they understood.

LOL, I called my dad who is actually a mechanic for UPS (on disability though). I told him the lady told me they can't contact the driver when he's in the field. He said that's a lie, they can send him an electronic message on his pad, it happens a lot during the day.

I'd rather not depend on that though. My old manager knows the UPS delivery person pretty well, so hopefully she'll be able to get him to do the right thing without dealing with the dolts at the call-center.

The quality of service at UPS depends on the quality of people at the local Delivery Center. When I used to live in Greenville, South Carolina, I had at least half a dozen complaint files on delivery issues. The DC never seemed to get messages to the driver and so on. One issue was that they returned my package claiming they tried 3 attempts after only attempting delivery once. One of my friends who worked for UPS out of the next DC mentioned that the Greenville Center had a lot of issues. Since moving away from Greenville, I've not had any issues with UPS.

I would contact UPS again and at least talk to a supervisor.

Good luck with your package.

Why did FedEx even accept the package then?

Well update here. They attempted to deliver the package to my old work. They refused it, and told them to deliver it to the original address. I called to confirm they have the address right this time, and they do. They are going to deliver it to the correct address on Monday. We'll see if that really happens.

My wife sat here from 10:30 - 2 like the "InfoNotice" said my package would be delivered.

Well, it's now 4:35 and STILL no package. WTF?

Gawd I hate UPS. FedEx has been way better to me.
