If you want to give a standard 15% tip, do you take 15% of the total bill before tax or after?

i usually don't tip based on fractions of dollars and will just do it to a whole dollar or round my CC bill to a whole dollar.

if I tip I will generally tip atleast 15% of the total bill that comes out, so i guess it's generally more than 15% of the bill before taxes.

I usually do 15-20% after tax if the service was decent. Usually on the higher side if my kids made a bit of a mess.
