My biggest pet peeve recently during my morning and afternoon commutes has been people that refuse to get in the proper lane at the proper time. This morning, I'm driving through a decently large intersection, and this asshat in his fast 540i decides to stay in the left lane for as long as possible, even though he needs to take an exit on the right, and then flys across three lanes of traffic to get there causing everyone to slow down for him. A few days ago, I had a Hummer cut me off IN THE MIDDLE of an intersection to migrate from the right-hand straight lane to the left-turn lanes, getting me stuck in the middle when the light turned red and also almost causing an accident.

WHAT IS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

If you're new to the area and are not sure what lane to be in, fine, I understand that. But otherwise it's just annoyingly rude and pointless.

Your stories?

i think my driving habits are getting worse and worse. I'm starting to forget to check my blind spots while changing lanes on the highway... it's happened twice now.

I saw some pinhead in a Beemer pull that stunt in front of an 18 wheeler and the truck smacked him and crumpled his rear quarter panel nicely. 😀

Ouch.

Agreed.

On the way home from work (this is for houston people) I take 45 north to 59 south, coming from 610. As you near 59, the left two lanes are exit only to highways 59 and 288, while the right two are for continuing on 45.

The highway always is backed up with asshats who stayed in the left lanes and are now trying to forcibly merge into the right two lanes, while I could have been flying down at 70+ I have to wait while the morons have to try to cut into the 45 lanes (usually more backed up than the 59 lanes). I've seen some near misses.

Actually, this isn't a rant, but a couple days ago I saw and older small domestic sedan taking the exit to 59, and the front passenger side wheel was wobbling around like crazy - I was coming up on his right but decided against passing him because I could have sworn that wheel was about to come off. Once he got out of the turn it stopped, though, and he kept going. It was crazy, I thought that wheel was about to come off.

 I feel the same way about that. Also, people driving slow in the left most lane holding people up. People that won't let your merge even though they see your blinking light. People that speed up just so you won't be able to merge with a blinking light.

I was about to say that was me, but I don't slow down to switch lanes, I speed up in front of you. I hate people that cut me off and make me slow down. I also hate people that flash me when I cut in front of them with at least 3 carlengths even though I'm going faster then they are...

So I'm on a two lane road, it's wide enough for three, but they right lane is wide so cars can park, trucks can pull out, future expansion, etc...

I pull upto a light, and I'm the right lane. Nobody in the left lane. Some old guy pulls upto the right of me, no problem, he's making a right turn. Nothing wrong with that. The light goes green, and I take off moderately fast. And when I'm about 1/3rd of the way through the intersection I notice that this asshat is ahead of me, going straight. WTF?!

Nobody in the left lane? Maybe he changed his mind and decided to go straight?

If he did, common sense would've said "hold off and fall in behind the guy" (there was nobody behind me). This guy just figured that there's enough room, so why not have a third lane?

I'm guilty of doing something similar... 2 lane roads are a bummer when you are behind a slow bunch. If an intersection comes up with a left turning lane, sometimes I pretend that I'm making a left turn when it's red, then "change my mind" and go straight, in front of the slow minivans.

Way to possibly cause an accident.

How? I'm 10 carlengths away before they even start moving.
Because you're still temporarily putting yourself in an opposing traffic lane. Someone could pull out, who knows. No one is expecting you there. Still, I understand why you do it, just saying...

Ya, I make sure that nobody is in the opposite lane making a left turn because that would be head on in the same lane. One time, I noticed a cop in the intersection, so I just made the left and took an alternate route, LOL

Yeah I see that crap all the time. Lots of assholes think the turning lanes are their lanes for bypassing traffic. Imagine the mayhem if everyone who wanted to get past those "minivans" did that.

I hate cheaters like you that think you can just zoom past the traffic. Why don't you just keep taking that alternate route everyday instead of only doing it when you're "caught?" :|

I hate people that cruise next to you while you are trying to change lanes (signaling). Then when you speed up, they match your speed so you are forced to SLOW DOWN significantly to get behind them.

That is my biggest pet peeve. If you are driving the same speed as everyone else get the fvck out of the left lane!!! People are so inconsiderate.

Rule of thumb for me, if I'm slower than traffic, I move to the right. I yield, and I only pass on left. That's how America should drive.

I believe half the people under the age of 25 believe there's only two lanes for the purpose of fitting more cars onto the road and that both are equal for driving.

Same here. It's unfortunate that people like Asharus have to deal with inferior people like us on the roads.
