YATT (Ticket Thread): Just got an illegal parking ticket

So I woke up today morning and I found a ticket on my car.... I illegaly parked in an unmarked parking spot in my apartment complex 🙁... I know, I deserve it so don't flame me!
I check my ticket and the license plate number is off by one alphabet... now, my question is do I have to pay for the ticket? I remember reading somewhere that if they do not have the right information down, you are not liable for paying.

What part of the "I know, I deserve it" part did you forget by the time you got to the "do I have to pay for the ticket" part? You did it, pay it.

As I said, I'm not questioning whether I deserve it or not. I'm asking whether I'm going to be able to get off on a technicality. Please take your preaching elsehwhere.... thanks and have a nice day.

Is there other info on the ticket such as make, model, color and VIN? Some municipalities won't let you off if there's enough information on the ticket to make it clear that it was just a misprint.

The other thing to consider is the cost of the ticket. Is it worth it to spend a half day waiting in the court room?

Nope no other information. Even when I try to pay my ticket online, the system doesn't accept it when I enter my real license plate number.

You are right... it isn't going to be worth it to spend half a day in court to fight the ticket.

That happened to me once. They sent me a letter saying it was incorrect and I still have to pay about 2 months later. This was in Long Beach.

If there is no other information, looks like some other guy is gonna get accused of not paying a ticket.

You know what, you are probally right. I'll have to call up the court to point out the mistake. Its not going to be worth it to fight in court because I'll have to take atleast a half-day off from work and my lost wages is just going to be about the cost of the ticket 🙁

If they have the wrong license plate number, how would they know you didn't pay it?

Thats true... but someone else is going to get accused if the license plate on the ticket is valid and corresponds to another car if I don't pay.

I wouldn't pay it. If they only have your license and the number is wrong, they have no way of knowing who owns the car, so there is nothing to tie you to the "crime". You don't even know if the number he wrote down is even assigned to everyone, so possibly nobody will get stuck with it.

Don't pay it until you get a notice. It happened to me but they still sent me a thing saying the incorrect number was written but I still am liable.

Yeah, wait until they send you a ticket letter in the mail. They should do that because I believe they assume the wind blows some tickets away or something.
