YATT-Is it customary to tip shuttle drivers?

I dropped my car off for an oil change this morning and got a shuttle ride from the Toyota dealer to work. I was just wondering if I should tip the guy or not. I never usually do but I always feel kind of guilty for not tipping him.

Maybe I'll ask the service writer when I pick up my car what he thinks.

its the holidays why not? in this case i guess tip should be based on distance. you dont want to tip $2 and come off looking like a cheapass. i wouldve given $10, cheaper than calling a taxi
 
If it were a shuttle I took regularly, to the point where the driver and I recognized each other, then I might tip him around the holidays. For example, our apartment in Hoboken had a shuttle service down to the PATH station which I used daily so I tipped the driver at the end of the year.

Otherwise, I would not.

I go there every 3 months or so for an oil change. I have never seen the same driver twice. The ride is probably 2-3 miles at the most.

One of my buddies' dad drove a shuttle for a car lot. He was retired and just needed something to take up his time. He made decent money and got a free car out of the deal.

Yeah, from talking to a few of them over the years I got the distinct impression that many of them were doing that job in large part because She Who Must Be Obeyed didn't want them around their house all the time.
 
Dealer is screwing you as best they can, and you are in fact already paying for the shuttle service as part of the charges to fix your car.

No tip.

Unless they do something special for you, drive thru InandOut, etc.

Hotel shuttle that you use regularly during a stay, yeah tip at the end.

In lieu of a tip you could always say, "enjoy the healthcare I'm paying for".

Actually, I have 2 years of maintenance free. I don't pay a thing for taking my car there for oil changes.
