Somehow my bill has gone up to $150/month for my 2 lines. I use maybe 200 minutes a month, a couple texts from people who can't seem to remember my GV number and then data. My data is more important to me than voice but I am tired of paying $1800/year to basically be able to stream Slacker while driving and check my email at work.

So I call up Tmo retention and ask a simple question, "What do I need to do to cut down my monthly bill?" Pretty simple question I thought. The first thing he says is that there is nothing I can do to cut down. What?!?!? Now its time for me to get aggressive. I tell him that I can go to MetroPCS and get unlimited everything for $79/month on both lines. He says again that he can't do anything and tries to push me off the line. That got me even more pissed, so I decided I was going to make him earn his $3/hour or whatever is they pay them.

I asked him if I could remove my texting package. No. What?!?!? He says its tied to my web even though I pay for them separately. OK buddy. What about my insurance? Well.... Oh ok. So even though he had told me I couldn't do anything to save money and was willing to let me port out, I somehow found a way to save $67/month!

I really, really didn't want to lose my web but I am willing to go without just because that fucker lied to me. I'm very tempted to just go pick up a couple Metro phones and pay the $200 ETF on my line.

===================

update:

ok they finally did it. I added the web back on to my lines because I missed it too much. I waited a few hours and it still didn't work. I called tmo and after literally 25 minutes on the phone, the rep tells me to wait 2 hours after the changes are made. WHAT? I waited 3. So then she actually does whatever it was she needed to do and my web starts working again. 30 minutes of torture to get them to help me.

Then today I called because one of my phones wouldn't go into mass storage anymore. I flashed it back to stock, tried 3 different USB cords, 2 different computers...nothing. The chick refused to let me talk to technical support because I was calling from that phone and she couldn't troubleshoot. When I asked her what troubleshooting she would like to do, she wouldn't answer me. I finally got mad and started yelling at her and I *NEVER* yell at phone people. Finally she transfers me to tech support and the guy tries to convince me that my battery is bad. *sigh*

I just sold both my Vibrants and will be porting out tomorrow.

So long Tmo. You used to rock but now you suck worse than Sprint when it was at rock bottom.

You can go to virgin mobile if your wanted, I pay $25 a month for unlimited text, data, and 300 minutes. You can get 2 new lg optimus v phones for $300 that ain't bad considering you would save alot of money each year this way

I agree. I've been watching T-Mo's prices spiral upward lately. I was just about ready to hop on a postpaid plan this past month until I went and looked and realized that their prepaid plan is actually a better deal than just about any of their postpaid plans (1500m/t/30mb data + $1.49 Web Day Pass as needed). Even that pales in comparison to the 1200 tnt prepaid plan from PagePlus, and absolutely nothing can touch my regional carrier's (Corr Wireless, regional + AT&T MVNO roaming) prepaid unlimited talk/text/data plan for $44.99/mo.

About the only thing you can do with T-Mo now is go full data only plan on a smartphone and use VOIP.

I thought the Metro Galaxy models were somehow gimped? The Optimus is too much of a downgrade... Plus the unadvertised data cap.

Plus the unadvertised data cap.

I thought we went through this already?

Every provider has some form of soft cap on data. Advertised or not, it's there.

But seriously, if you're sucking up more than 5GB on a $25/month Virgin plan you have truly gotten your money's worth and have nothing to complain about...

Hope you're in a major metropolitan area or live real close to an interstate if you're getting a virgin mobile phone, otherwise you're not going to have a signal (no partner roaming with VM, you're limited to sprint's own towers only).

Spint > Tmo in my area.

I listed my Vibrants on CL. If I can get $400 for the pair, I'm going to Metro and I'll wait patiently for their LTE to drop in my area.

Then you may want to look into Boost Mobile then. There's "hacks" out there to get EVO's and such activated on Boost.

I checked the Metro site and their high-end Samsung is the Indulge, which does have the Galaxy S 1ghz Hummingbird but is gimped on screen (3.5", non-SAMOLED, low-res) and camera. Does come with keyboard but IMO a step down from the Vibrant.

You sure $80/m is for two LTE lines all you can eat data?

It just amazes me how expensive are the cellphone bill is nowadays, for some people it is more than a house payment in the 80s

I was paying $30 each for unlimited web and texting plus $7 for insurance on my phone.

I'm going to go talk to the Tmo guys tomorrow. If they can't get me web without texting, I'm going to Metro.

Buy my Vibrants for $450 for the pair!

something to be said for sticking with one carrier for awhile. Like the $99 before discount I pay for 3 lines with unlimited text/data.
