This whole case just breaks my heart, I saw a picture of the kids today on MSNBC. They were little angels. I hope she doesn't get the death penalty, though I am not sure what she has to live for anymore anyway.
 
She got better treatment and justice than what she gave her innocent children. She should have been sentenced to death by drowning. :disgust:
 
I am very glad not to be a U.S. taxpayer today. As greenbacks-centered as it sounds, I wouldn't want to be footed the bill to keep this one alive for at least 40 years. Is she going to be un-crazified after four decades of confinement or something?

think of all of those women that are in jail whom have children (and get to see them)........ her ass is toast
 
Would the same verdict have been reached had the perpetrator been a man? I think not. The justice system sucks ass!!! She deserved death as much as anyone I can think of. BTW, I don't like the fact that the judge basically told the jurors before they decided the penalty that "i'd like you to sentence her to life in prison, and not death", WTF is that? Even if they sentenced her to death I don't think he would have allowed it, he would have probably overturned it.

This is an amazingly prevalent misconception - it is much more costly to execute someone than it is to imprison them for life.
 
So America isn't going to kill her. And this is Texas.

Life in prison is a just sentence. There should be no more violence.

You can argue that the death penalty would be the easy way out. They kill you and it's over forever. Now, Yates will have to spend the rest of her life incarcerated, devoid of freedom, paying the price. This is a better sentence if you want true justice.

he is correct, execution is more expensive, it isn't just the drugs that they pay for, it includes all the appeals and many other expenses that most people don't know about.

I have mixed feelings about this verdict though

Right. Nevermind the countless people that staff and carryout the execution. Nevermind countless mandatory and optional appeals and stays and the fact that the whole time, they sit in prison, anyway.

I heard the same thing. I believe it was something like 2x-3x more for someone to get the death penalty than life in prison. Sorry, don't have a link...it was just something I heard on CourtTV or something. Don't believe me? Do your own digging. 😀

How 'bout this -- I go buy myself a gun, sneak into the prison, and shoot her? A lot less costly than supporting her for 40 years. :Q

/edit I DO NOT CONDONE THIS. I'm merely pointing out the fact that execution is a LOT cheaper than imprisonment for life...
