Yates in solitary confinement?!?!?!?

I know the general opinion about Yates on this board, but:

Why solitary confinement? She is not a dangerous person... She killed her kids, yes, and she will be punished for it.
But she is not going to be likely to harm anyone else! This is a very specific case, and I think she really was insane, although not technically by Texas law, as she probably knew right from wrong then.

I don't get it.

<< solitary confinement is also for suicidal folks. >>

Which means she needs psychiatric help, not something that will make her go even more insane.

So solitary confinemtn is to "protect" her? I am sure she'll appreciate that.

If she is put into the mainstream prison, she will be dead by morning. Another prisoner would make short work of her, they don't take people that harm children kindly in there.

not neccesarily. I was put in solitary/suicide watch after an arrest in 95 as a juvenile. I wouldnt say I was phycho. Its also to protect you from other prisoners. I think "celebrity" criminals often are in solitary for this reason.

Okay, that's a good point. I admit I had not thought about that.
Now it makes more sense.

GF probably hit it right on the head. It is probably more for her "protection" than anything.

Something tells me that her appreciation is not an issue on the forefront of anyone's mind.
